South High CCC Newsletter
September 21- September 25, 2026
Senior Kick Off is THIS Wednesday, September 23
Seniors, we will be meeting in this Wednesday about how to put your plans together for life after high school. This is your first My Life Plan lesson of the year and an important one as we cover how to start applications and resumes, how to request transcripts and letters of recommendation in Xello, and the resources available to you to organize your plans. Seniors will come down to the Media Center with their Social Studies classes.
If you do not have a Social Studies class at South, please use a release hour on Wednesday, September 23 for you to come and complete this My Life Plan lesson. The lessons will be hosted in the media center. If you have questions or concerns, please email your counselor.
Seniors will also be joining Ms. MacDonald, Ms. Young, Kelsey, and Katie on Thursday or Friday that week to work on their initial plans during their social studies class. If you are a full time PSEO student and do not have a social studies class at South, please find a time on Friday, September 25 to come for your second half of this lesson.
We are excited to start the post-secondary planning process with you all!
Rep Visits start the week of September 21
College representative visits will begin September 24 in the CCC (Room 150)! Are you interested in learning about clubs on college campuses? Do you want to know if the dorm food is good? Are you curious about a collegeβs popular majors? Then students should get a pass to attend rep visits from various colleges in the CCC.
Rep visits are a great way for students to connect with admissions representatives and a unique way to get to know the college without having to travel! Students can stop by the CCC during passing time or before or after school to get a pass for College Rep Visits.
Students can find all the scheduled Rep Visits on the CCC Calendar. Rep Visits can be added or changed throughout the fall, so we encourage students to check the calendar weekly. The rep visits are also listed under the "Events" tab in Xello. Lastly, Katie and Kelsey will also share the weekly calendar on the whiteboard outside the CCC (Room 150).
Please make sure you pick up a pass from the CCC to attend a Rep Visit! Students will not be allowed to stay for the visit without a signed pass.

South High Financial Aid Night is Wednesday, October 7
Financial Aid Night is coming up on Wednesday, October 7!
The South High Counseling Team will be moving to a slightly different format this year for the October event. We are inviting seniors and their families to come to South on Wednesday, October 7 to learn about financial aid and to complete either their FAFSA of Minnesota Alternative State Financial Aid Application (MAFSA). The event will run from 6:00pm-8:00pm and will feature a half hour presentation explaining financial aid. Once the presentation is complete, families will be able to enjoy pizza and get started on either the FAFSA or MAFSA.
If seniors and their families are planning to complete financial aid during this evening they need to have the information on this flyer to complete it.
The South High Counseling Team looks forward to hosting you!
The CCC has moved to Room 150!
With the move of the counseling offices to the old main office, the CCC will now be located in Room 150 (the old Writers' Room).
Katie and Kelsey are excited to share this new space with students at South as we work to connect them with resources and activities tied to planning for life after high school.
