4K in February 2026!

We made it to February after a chilly January. I'm ready for a bit warmer weather which usually brings more snow.

In 4K the kids are still full of energy so we're having lots of fun! The teachers have to be a bit creative when we have long stretches of cold weather to keep the kids entertained and burn some of that endless 4 year old energy! Visits to the gym, extra movement breaks, games and longer stretches of play help with the cold weather blues.

February will bring Registration for Kindergarten!

Please see the information below about how to register your child for 2026-2027 and continue to watch for information from your child's teacher for more transitional opportunities!

4K with Ms. Watt!

During our Community Helper unit we learned about safety rules and routines as well as keeping our bodies safe and healthy. We learned that there are people in our community that help achieve this as well. We realized that our list of community helpers was very long as we learned how our custodians help our building be ready and clean for us to not get hurt or spread germs. We enjoyed watching our district and city workers use teamwork like we have been practicing to keep the sidewalks and roads safe by plowing. We saw how the dental hygienist comes to our school to help our teeth be healthy. We brought our unit to a close with some Community Helpers that are also Cooper parents. We had Amanda Valentine come and share what it is like to be a NICU Nurse, Officer Matt Swanson came and share what it is like to be a Police and Liaison Officer, and Fire Chief Suzi Olson came to share about fire safety and her positions as a firefighter and chief.

As we began our Winter and Celebrations unit, we invited our families to come and see what we have been learning and doing in 4K. Moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents, siblings, and friends came and participated in fine motor activities, math games, crafts, snacks, and even heard us sing a few of our favorite songs and poems.

We shared that we have learned how to:

  • participate in our school routines

  • share

  • use our pincer grasp to tear paper and hold crayons to color and draw

  • use our problems solving skills to create a stem project

  • use one to one correspondence to count

  • use songs to help us learn our letters and the sounds they make

  • use cross body movement to help our brains and bodies grow and focus

It was fun sharing how we are making friends, learning, and growing each day in 4K.

Step 1: Confirm you address

Step one of the Kindergarten Transition process begins in January! Your child's 4K teacher will be reaching out to verify your current home address. We realize children may move before Fall of 2026; however, confirming addresses is the first step in our process of calculating the number of students we expect at each elementary building.

So, please confirm your child's home address / home school for Fall of 2026 with your child's 4K Teacher. IF you've moved since you registered for 4K, you will be asked to provide address verification documentation.

IF you'd like to apply for elementary transfer request;

please click here for more information and the application.

Step 2: Register for Kindergarten

If your child is already enrolled in the SCP/4K program, you will sign up for Kindergarten at:

**If you are unsure of your attendance area, please use our school locator.

Step 3: Turn in your Documentation

All students will need to TURN IN THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

  2. Current Immunizations

  3. Address Verification Documentation
