Happy November Familles,

We definitely had a wacky week full of costumes, parades and snow! A huge thank you to our amazing PTO, our room parents and all the families that supported our students for our fall parade and parties! Our students had an enjoyable time with games, music, treats and dancing. Thank you to the Flossmoor Hills/Highlands Civc Association for sponsoring the annual trunk or treat for our Flossmoor Hills area families. All these events for our students would not have been possible without us all working together!

Congratulations to the students in grades 3-5 that qualified to participate in the annual spelling bee at Flossmoor Hills! The spelling bee will be held on December 14th. The top two students will go on to compete in the district spelling bee. We are proud of all of our students for their efforts!

Mrs. Hill's first graders conducted an experiment in class to determine whether pumpkins would sink or float. The class made predictions prior to conducting the experiment. Some of the students were very surprised to learn that no matter how heavy the pumpkin, they all floated in water!

Mr. Fine's second graders conducted an experiment to see what would happen if you mix the compounds of baking soda and vinegar together. There were many ooh's and ahh's when students learned that adding vinegar and baking soda creates a chemical reaction. The mixture produces a carbon dioxide gas and forms bubbles.

Eagle Cart

Flossmoor Hills is seeking volunteers to run the Eagle Cart. The Eagle Cart has tons of goodies for students to shop with their hard-earned Eagle Bucks! Volunteers will go around to each classroom with the cart and collect Eagle Bucks as the students shop.

Our next Eagle Cart date is Friday, November 17th

As a reminder all volunteers must have a state issued ID scanned to participate.

Breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. Students eating breakfast should enter the main entry doors (Door A) upon arrival to school.

• Kindergarten and 5th Grade - 11:30 a.m. - recess begins at 11:50 a.m.
• 1st Grade and 3rd Grade - 12:10 p.m. - recess begins at 12:30 p.m.
• 2nd Grade and 4th Grade - 11:50 a.m. - recess begins at 12:10 p.m.

If you need to drop off lunch to your student after the school day has started, you may utilize the grade level bins on the cart in the foyer. Please label your child's lunch bag.

Reminder: Lunches sent to the school by food delivery services such as Uber Eats, GrubHub, DoorDash, etc. are not allowed.

Log into your child's Skyward account to load money to purchase breakfast and lunch. Please check your child's account regularly.

If you would like to celebrate your child's birthday in school, please send non edible items to share (i.e., pencils, bubbles, stickers, etc.). We cannot allow students to share outside food/treats in school.
