A Note from Mrs. Mathe
What an Incredible Fun Run Day!
What an absolutely wonderful Fun Run we had today! Our Huskies showed up with amazing energy, school spirit, and teamwork—and because of the incredible support from our families and community, we are thrilled to share that we surpassed our goal of $75,000!
I am beyond excited to officially say… I’M GOING TO SPACE!
One of my favorite parts of this entire week has been the curiosity and excitement from our students. They’ve asked the best questions—from “How will you get there?” and “How much does it cost?” to “Will you come back?” and “Have you done the proper training?” Their caring hearts, imagination, and genuine concern have been such a bright spot throughout the Boosterthon week. This reward will certainly be one we will all remember!
A huge thank you to all the family members who came out to cheer on their Huskies today and to everyone who has supported our school throughout this fundraiser. Your encouragement and generosity help us continue to grow and create memorable experiences for our students.
What a day at Hines!
GT Testing Information
Referral requests for the Gifted and Talented (GT) program are now being accepted from October 1–December 19, 2024. Although GT testing will not take place until late January, families interested in referring their child should contact their child’s teacher to request a nomination packet.
Please note: 2nd grade students do not need a parent referral. All 2nd graders will take the CogAT test this October. These scores are used as the first step in the GT evaluation process. Families will be notified after CogAT results are received if their child qualifies for the second phase of GT testing in January.

Student Spotlight
We are excited to introduce a new section in The Hines Herald called Student Spotlight! This feature will celebrate the amazing achievements, acts of kindness, and positive contributions of our Huskies both inside and outside of school. In this section, we will highlight students who have gone above and beyond—whether it’s reaching a personal goal, helping others, or making a difference in the community. We can’t wait to share these inspiring stories and honor the incredible ways our students shine!
Eva Abramyan
Congratulations to Eva Abramyan for an outstanding performance at the Kuni Klassic Diving Invitational in Pearland! Eva took 1st place from the 1-meter board, earning a gold medal for her team, “Hai, Let’s Go Dive,” in the 9 & Under Girls category.
Way to go, Eva! Your hard work and dedication have truly paid off, and we’re so proud of your accomplishment!

We want to make sure these resources reach the families who could use them most.
