Board Meeting Report

The Board of Education approved the principal position for the District’s fourth middle school, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2022. The new middle school is located in Wentzville at West Meyer Road and North Point Prairie, adjacent to North Point High School.

Dr. Cain shared with the board high-level points of consideration for the return to school for the 2021-2022 school year. He mentioned that the WSD is moving forward to resume normal school operations for next year and emphasized that the District will provide in-person, five-days a week education for all students. Additionally, the WSD is preparing for a return to school with optional mask-wearing and addressing individual school needs as they present themselves. The next update will be July 13, pending future information from the CDC and health partners at the state and local levels.

The Board of Education discussed their next steps following the Board retreat that took place on Saturday, May 15. Topics included:

• How the Board of Education will establish a process for Board Member visits to schools.

• Identifying how the Board measures and evaluates success throughout the WSD.

• Future review of the Board of Education Student Representative Survey results.
