Principal's Weekly Update
Week of February 24-28
Administrator's Message 🐾
Dear Wildcat Families,
February break is coming up next week in observance of Presidents' week. There is NO school 2/16-2/20.
We are noticing more students waiting in the upper parking lot after dismissal, where they are engaging in dangerous behavior such as pushing each other, etc. The proximity to vehicles and the road, in addition to the safety concerns around physical contact will result in administration directing the students to wait by the gates for pick-up.
Our next English Learner Advisory Committee Meeting (ELAC) is on Monday, February 24th at 3:30pm virtual and in person. See the linked agenda for the topics to be covered as well as the link to join virtually.
We look forward to welcoming our Wildcats back on Monday, February 24th!
Celebrating Our Community's Diversity
The cities of Fairfield and Suisun City are two of the most diverse communities in California. To honor that diversity, each week FSUSD will be sharing information about the cultures that make up our extra special learning community.
February 28 - March 30 is Ramadan, one of the most sacred times for Muslims. It is the month in which it is believed that the Holy Qur'an was sent down from heaven "as a guidance for men and women, a declaration of direction, and a means of salvation."
During this month, Muslims observe a strict fast from dawn until sunset. They are not allowed to eat or drink (even water) during daylight hours. Fasting is a private act of worship bringing about nearness to God, as well as a form of spiritual discipline and a means to empathize with those less fortunate. The fast is broken at the end of the day with prayer and a festive meal called an iftar. It is customary to visit family and friends following the iftar. The final evening of Ramadan consists of a celebration called Eid al-Fitr, when the traditional month-long fast is ended with a feast.
