North Shore VEX IQ Robotics Tournament North Shore VEX IQ Robotics Tournament

On November 9, 2024, Haleʻiwa Elementary School made history by hosting its very first robotics tournament! The event was a tremendous success, with 21 teams competing, including a team from Hilo. It was an exciting day of innovation, teamwork, and friendly competition.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Mr. Haiola, our dedicated robotics coach and mentor, for spearheading this incredible event. His leadership and vision were key to bringing this experience to life for our students.

We also want to extend our gratitude to the many faculty, staff members, students, and parent volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, contributing countless hours to the planning and preparation of the tournament. Your hard work truly paid off in making this event possible and memorable.

A special thank you is also due to Ms. Vidad, Ms. Banis, and Ms. Moeaveave for their efforts in preparing and running the concession stand. Ms. Mossman generously donated all of the coffee and supplies, too. All of your support helped keep everyone energized and fueled throughout the day.

We are incredibly proud of our students, our staff, and our community for coming together to make this robotics tournament a resounding success!

Complex Area Superintendent Visit Complex Area Superintendent Visit

On November 22, 2024, Complex Area Superintendents Bob Davis and newly appointed Deputy Complex Area Superintendent Ernest Muh, along with their district team, conducted a school visit to Haleʻiwa Elementary School to witness firsthand the school's efforts in supporting student success both academically and through a variety of extracurricular activities. During the visit, they were able to observe how the school fosters student growth not only in core subjects but also in areas such as robotics, arts, and sports. The team was particularly impressed with the leadership and vision demonstrated by Principal Malaea Wetzel, noting the positive impact her direction has had on the school community. The visit underscored Haleʻiwa Elementary's commitment to providing a well-rounded educational experience for its students.

School Attendance Matters! School Attendance Matters!

On November 18, 2024, Haleʻiwa Elementary School’s Honor Guards took part in a sign-waving event to promote the importance of school attendance. Research highlights that regular school attendance is vital for student success, directly influencing academic achievement, social development, and overall well-being. By attending school consistently, students remain engaged with the curriculum, participate in classroom activities, and build crucial skills that lead to long-term success. Missing school can create gaps in learning, hinder academic performance, and limit opportunities to form connections with peers and teachers. In addition, good attendance fosters a sense of responsibility, discipline, and community, helping students develop habits that support their future success. At Haleʻiwa Elementary, we firmly believe that School Attendance Matters!
