First Days of School Transition Activities First Days of School Transition Activities

At the beginning of the school year, we dedicated time to ensure a smooth transition by engaging in get-to-know-you games, learning how to read a schedule, understanding lunch and recess routines, practicing how to use lockers, and receiving our planners.

Partnering With Our School

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we welcome November, I find myself reflecting on the accomplishments of our students thus far. September and October have been a time of significant growth as our scholars have embraced the challenges of transitioning to a new school environment. They have learned new routines, mastered their locker combinations, navigated a new schedule, and adjusted to working with eight different teachers, all while learning how to organize themselves for new learning. Our scholars are developing essential skills that are vital for their success.

At Eastview, we believe that our core values of community, integrity, and growth bind us together therefore, we recognize that every person impacts school culture. Our school’s planned experiences are designed to help students form friendships and learn about healthy interactions while developing crucial social skills. These skills include articulating their feelings, seeking clarity and perspective from others, and using empathy to resolve conflicts effectively. These experiences and others not mentioned provide context for students' understanding of relationships and the agency needed to navigate our school community.

Alongside these social developments, students have made new friends and embraced the importance of building a supportive community. We believe that all the activities shared in this newsletter are part of the simple things we want students to experience, providing them with a solid foundation for a year of growth and success.

Join us in celebrating the pride we all share in supporting your child during this important transition to middle school. When focusing on doing the simple things right and striving to be EPIC our Eastview Tigers are tremendously successful. Thank you for your partnership in this journey.

Sincerely,

Leroy Dixon
