Start With Hello
This week we will recognize Start with Hello Week. Start with Hello is a national awareness initiative by Sandy Hook Promise that aims to combat social isolation and foster kindness, empathy and belonging in K-12 schools and youth organizations. Inspired by the Start with Hello program, the annual week encourages students and educators to actively include others, identify signs of social isolation and create a positive, connected school environment to prevent bullying, violence and other negative outcomes. We will have special visitors each morning greeting students as they arrive at school, starting their day with a friendly and welcoming "Hello". Please join us in talking to your student about the importance of noticing those around you that appear to be alone, reaching out to help if possible and starting with a simple, HELLO.
SchoolStore is Coming to BES!
This week, your child is bringing home a Book Buddy Lanyard letting you know about a safe and easy way for our school to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed.
The SchoolStore Program is 100% online so there is NO face-to-face selling, handling money, or delivering products. Your participation will take less than 12 minutes, and there are exciting prizes to make it fun for the students. The best part about this is you have to do nothing but shop at the regular stores you shop at! By signing up, a portion of your purchase is donated back to the school.
Here is all you need to do to participate:
1. Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/sid.t?0000000749 to sign up.
2. Send form emails inviting family, friends and co-workers to support your child.
3. Return the Book Buddy Lanyard with the Student Prize Code to school for your child to get their fun participation prize.
Nurse Notes
Did you know you can see your child’s nurse visits, immunization record, and screenings results in Skyward?!
Log into your family skyward account—click “health info” on the left side of screen—click “display options” located at the top of the screen to choose what area you’d like to look at.
Hearing Screening will begin near the end of September.
3rd grade and IEP/504 students will have their hearing checked by the nurse.
Please email Nurse Candice at prothec@usd416.org if you do not want your child to have their hearing screened. This will OPT OUT your child.
Blessings in a Backpack
Louisburg USD 416 participates in a local Blessings in a Backpack program. The program is designed to provide non-perishable food every Friday to children that would benefit from supplemental nourishment over the weekend. This program is available to all district students/families. The program runs throughout the school year and there is no cost to participate. Distribution will begin the week following labor day in a discreet & caring manner. If you are interested in your child participating in Blessings in a Backpack, please complete this form for each child in your home.

Attendance and School Calendar
Important Links!
Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.
Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!
If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.
GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
