Converse ES All Stars: Growing Together, Achieving More! Converse ES All Stars: Growing Together, Achieving More!

Week of December 15, 2025 Week of December 15, 2025

Principal's Message Principal's Message

Dear Converse ES All-Star Community,

As we approach the end of our first semester, I want to take a moment to thank you for your partnership and support in making this semester a success! Our students have grown so much, and that is a direct reflection of the dedication from both our staff and families.

The semester officially ends on December 18, and report cards will be posted in the parent portal on January 8. We encourage you to continue supporting your child’s learning during the holiday break by reading together or playing math games—something as simple as using playing cards can make learning fun!

If you are planning to assist with your child’s classroom Christmas party on December 18, please remember to bring a government-issued ID. The ID will be scanned at the front office, and once approved, you will receive a badge to wear. Please make sure the badge is visible at all times while you are on campus.

We have four more days until the break—let’s finish strong! Thank you for being an essential part of our school community.

Converse ES All Stars: Growing Together, Achieving More!

Sincerely,

Miriam Huerta

Converse ES Principal

School Bus Expectations School Bus Expectations

In order to ensure the safety and security of the school bus, Converse Elementary will be starting a new system on January 6.

As always, if a student is not following bus expectations the bus driver will submit a referral to the school administration. The administrator will review the referral, speak with the student, and speak with the parent.

If a student receives four bus referrals for minor infractions they will be suspended from the bus for one day. The child will need to be brought to school and picked up in the car line. For each further referral, we will add a day to the bus suspension. For the fifth bus referral, the student will be suspended from the bus for two days. For the sixth bus referral, the student will be suspended from the bus for three days, and so on.

For a referral for a major bus infraction, the student may be suspended or removed from the bus immediately, at the discretion of the school administration.

Some examples of minor bus infractions include, but are not limited to, not sitting in the seat, eating on the bus, yelling or screaming, moving around while the bus is moving, inappropriate language, or not following the bus driver's directions.

Major infractions include violence or aggression such as fighting, bringing prohibited items on the bus, or endangering others.

Nurturing Restorative Values at Home

This spirit aligns beautifully with the restorative practices we use at school. Restorative practices are all about building strong relationships, taking responsibility for our actions, and making things right when harm occurs.

During the holidays, we can practice these values at home and in the community:

  • ❤️ Show Empathy: Encourage your children to think about how others might be feeling, especially those who may be lonely or less fortunate this season.

    • Try: Asking, "How do you think our neighbor feels when we shovel their walk for them?"

  • 🤝 Practice Generosity: Look for ways to give your time and effort, not just material gifts. This shows your children the importance of contributing positively to their community.

    • Try: Volunteering together or helping a family member with a chore without being asked.

  • 🗣️ Build Strong Connections: The holidays are an opportunity to strengthen family bonds and listen to one another. Taking time to truly hear someone builds trust and respect.

    • Try: Sitting down together for a meal and practicing a check-in circle, where everyone shares a 'high' and a 'low' from their day.

When we focus on these values—empathy, generosity, and strong connections—we are modeling the core principle of restorative practices: Relationships matter.

We wish you a wonderful and safe holiday filled with warmth, connection, and joy. Thank you for being such a supportive and loving part of our school family.

Character Trait Of The Month

Throughout the year, staff will be recognizing students who demonstrate different character traits each month. At the end of each month, teachers will select one student from their class who has best exemplified that month's trait to be celebrated and awarded a certificate in recognition of their character.

December's Character Trait: Kindness

We are building a culture of gratitude at school, and you can help reinforce it at home! Try these simple, powerful habits with your family:

  • 1. Encourage Apologies and Forgiveness
Teach children how to say sorry sincerely and how to accept apologies with grace.

  • 2. Celebrate Differences
Talk positively about people who look, live, or think differently to foster respect and inclusion.

  • 3. Create a Kindness Routine
End the day by sharing one kind thing done or seen, helping kindness become a habit.

  • Health Consent Forms

Many families have not yet completed the required health forms in compliance with Texas Senate Bill 12 (SB12). If you haven’t done so already, please log in to Skyward and submit these forms as soon as possible to help us remain in compliance with state requirements.

    Family Assistance

Families in need of school supplies, clothing, food, or community resources are encouraged to contact Mrs. Covington, our school counselor, for support and assistance.
