Together We Navigate
Dear Lytle Junior High Families,
October marks an important point in our school year as we complete the first nine weeks and reach the midpoint of the first semester. Our students and staff have worked hard to start the year strong, and now is the time to keep that momentum going. As we move into the second nine weeks, we want our students to remain focused on strong academics, positive behavior, and making good choices each day. The habits we build now will make a difference throughout the rest of the semester.
Our attendance also started the year strong, but we have seen it slowly decline over the past several weeks. Every day at school matters! Students who have three or fewer total absences—excused or unexcused—during the nine weeks will earn the opportunity to attend a Lytle High School pep rally as part of our attendance incentive. We also have a little friendly competition happening across the district! If LJH has the highest campus attendance rate for October AND finishes above 95%, all LJH students will earn an additional 30 minutes of outside free time. In addition, any grade level with the highest attendance rate in the district will receive a special treat from District Leadership. Let's work together to show up every day and keep LJH at the top!
We also invite our families to join us for our Fall Academic Night on October 21st. This will be a great opportunity for families to learn more about what students are working on, connect with our staff, and see how we can continue working together to support student success. Please see the flyer below for additional details about Fall Academic Night. We look forward to seeing our Pirate families there and continuing a strong second nine weeks together!

Welcome Back from the Assistant Principal
We've had such a great start to the school year these past few months! With Kona Ice, Concession Stands and other treats, we love rewarding good behavior, so keep up the good work students!
As we jump into October, it's important to remember that daily attendance is crucial! Coming to school each day is an important part of student success. Regular attendance gives students the opportunity to learn, stay connected with their classmates and teachers, build strong routines, and make steady progress toward their goals! Let's make October our best attendance yet!
We have been having many issues with bathroom cleanliness. Our campus bathrooms are a shared space, and we all play a part in keeping them clean, safe, and available for everyone. Please help your students remember to use bathroom facilities appropriately, keep them clean, and treat the space and others with respect.
We are always grateful for parent support, so thank you for all you do for LJH!

Parent Portal and Weekly Agenda
One of the best ways families can support academic success is by staying informed. We encourage parents and guardians to check Parent Portal at least once each week to review grades, missing assignments, and overall academic progress. Regularly checking grades allows families to celebrate successes and address concerns early before students fall behind.
Families can also stay informed about what is happening each week by checking our LJH Weekly Agenda, which is shared through Remind and Facebook. The agenda includes important campus information as well as tests and assessments scheduled for that week, making it a great tool to help students plan ahead and prepare. Taking just a few minutes each week to review Parent Portal and the Weekly Agenda with your student can help keep everyone on the same page and set students up for success!

AARGH YOU IN THE KNOW?
504 meetings are being scheduled for all 7th and 8th graders, new to LJH students, and any student with a medical condition who are currently in the 504 program.
Please know any member of the 504 committee can call a 504 meeting to consider revisions or new information at any time.
What is SAIL time?
SAIL time is a dedicated 30-minute intervention period built into our daily schedule to provide all students with additional support in math and reading. During this time, students engage in targeted lessons that are specifically designed to reteach and review key concepts introduced in their core Math and Reading classes. This focused instruction ensures that students have the opportunity to strengthen their understanding, close learning gaps, and build confidence in essential skills. By providing this structured time for reinforcement, we help every student stay on track and be better prepared for success in the classroom.
