Thank you to the Sunapee Fire Department for visiting SCES for Fire Prevention Week! Each class attended presentations and learned more about fire safety and the equipment firefighters use. It will be fun to talk with your student(s) about what was learned!

Another great example of community partnerships is our work with Sunapee Police Department. Mrs. Hamel organizes Safety Patrol this year. Fourth and fifth graders who have volunteered are assigned shifts to help around campus in the morning before school. Chief Cobb comes on Fridays to meet with students and debrief about their experience. Thank you to all involved!

As Halloween approaches, so does our annual food drive! In the past, we have collected cereal, but this year we are responding to the expressed needs of our community by asking each class to collect a different item.

Donations can be brought to school anytime between now and October 30. Stay tuned for details about our friendly class competition!

Here’s what each class is collecting:

• Preschool: Canned corn

• Kindergarten: Stuffing

• First Grade: Cranberry sauce

• Second Grade: Gravy

• Third Grade: Canned green beans

• Fourth Grade: Cereal

• Fifth Grade: Cider

Thank you for helping our school community make a difference for local families!
