Class Placement- Parent Input Form

During the month of May, we will begin the process of class placement for next year. We take great care in this process to ensure that each class is well balanced. Our goal is to provide your child with the best possible academic, social, and emotional environment to promote an optimal learning experience.

The teachers and I meet for many sessions, as we compose classes. We know your children well, their friendships, and the teaching styles of our faculty. When constructing a classroom, we look at many different factors including learning abilities, peer relationships, class size, strengths, challenges, diversity, as well as other factors, to create classrooms that foster social and academic development for all children. As in the past, all classes will be heterogeneous, meaning they will reflect various abilities.

2026-27 Parent Class Placement Input Form

As in the past, we only accept feedback regarding a specific teacher if a sibling has had that teacher in the past. Please understand that you cannot request specific teachers, as it would be inequitable. If there is information you would like us to consider, please complete this form no later than May 1st. We value the importance of this process, and work very thoughtfully to compose our classes each year.

If your child will not be returning to Rye Neck Schools in September, please notify Jeannine Teter, jteter@ryeneck.org, if you have not already done so.

Class placement information will be released in mid/late August. Thank you for your continued support.

Save the Date

April is Poetry Month! You are invited to join us for one of our most special traditions as we celebrate the end of Poetry Month with Poetry on the Patio.

Families are invited to join during your child’s Library period. Please save the date for your child’s class. We understand that due to working schedules, not everyone will be able to join. Please don’t worry– this is geared towards the students, and having them celebrate their learning and love of poetry.

Wellness Day: Empathy

We celebrated our District Wellness Day on Friday, with a focus on Empathy – understanding and caring about how others feel.

We used Mo Willems' books across grade levels, along with a Readers’ Theater experience featuring Gerald and Piggie, to help bring this theme to life in a fun and engaging way.

  • Kindergarten: My Friend is Sad
  • First Grade: Should I Share My Ice Cream?
  • Second Grade: Elephants Cannot Dance!

Each story provided a great opportunity to explore feelings, perspective-taking, and how we can support our friends.

In the afternoon, each grade joined together in the auditorium where their story was read aloud by all the students in the grade. It was a blast bringing Gerald and Piggie to life to practice our skills of Empathy!
