Breakfast and Lunch Information for TK-5th Grade Students
ALL students in California schools are offered free breakfast, which is served during recess, and free lunch every day. Menus can be found on the school and district website and posted in the bulletin board outside the office.
Both meals are completely optional, and families continue to be welcome sending their children with a recess snack and lunch provided from home. Students who are eating breakfast will be able to enter school around 8:30. If they miss breakfast in the morning, they may raise their hand for the 2nd chance breakfast at recess. Students may not get breakfast before school and at recess on the same day.
Students must raise their hand during attendance in order to obtain 2nd chance breakfast or lunch each day and will be served food when they visit the cafeteria in the MPR. If they brought a snack/lunch from home, they should plan on eating that and not raise their hand.
Students who raise their hands for a breakfast/lunch, will need to enter a unique pin code that tracks food service usage, and students are strongly encouraged to memorize their pin code to ensure the lines move quickly when visiting the cafeteria.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR TK/KINDER FAMILIES: Families may want to consider sending a snack and lunch packed from home at the beginning of the year for TK and Kindergarten students so they aren't overwhelmed with the process of visiting the cafeteria.
