Stations in the library!
JK and K did stations in the library in December.
2nd grade news
The 2nd graders are in the first half of their Navigating the Library unit. It is an important topic for 2nd graders since it is all about looking up books in Destiny Discover, the OCLC for the district, learning what all the information is about on the screen, and then finding the books in the library. Navitgating the Library is the first step to help students be independent on finding exactly what they are interested in reading. When students are in 3rd grades, they do not have a weekly library UA class. They come to the library when they need a book and use a Bingham library card to self checkout. Grades 3-5 do come to the library for research information, digital citizenship lessons, and other help when it is needed.
Parent Service Award
In case you missed Mrs. McKinney's newsletter...
MASL, Michigan Association of School Librarians, had their annual conference and award ceremony in December. Mrs. Chen Xue was nominated by Mrs. McManaman and was presented as a winner for the Service Award for Adult Volunteers. Thank you Mrs. Chen for your countless hours working in the library and for the many other activities at Bingham that you have volunteered for.
