Academy Announcements
Dear Academy Families and Friends,
Spring is on the move and in no time we've seen the effects of winter retreat! Days are getting longer and we are hard at work organizing spring activities!
- MCAS is coming soon, starting with Grade 3 English Language Arts on March 26 & 27. 4th and 5th grade will begin ELA exams in April.
- Students will be doing practice runs to work with the new platform and tools this year. Please be sure to update their chrome OS in the settings tabs. Log in, go to settings>>click about chrome os>>update often and early.
- Parent/Teacher Conference letters are coming home on March 19. Be on the lookout as we want to see every Academy family! April 1 will be at night and April 2 will be virtual meetings like we did in the fall.
- The AAPC launched the Read Across Academy program. The competition is on a roll Click here and get on it! Reading every night is important...but the more you read, the greater your chances are to win a gift card to Barnes and Nobles.
- 3 on 3 Basketball is full. We have our 24 teams and getting very excited about the event on the 27th at the Adams Gymnasium. It's part of our Healthy Weys program!
- Panda day is on Friday March 28th-Get your black and white outfits ready...it's the most adorable parade of pandas you have ever seen. Students and families can make donations to help protect and support these
- SALSA met with Grade 5 last Friday to talk about making good, healthy choices for their futures. The team is comprised students from WHS.
- Len Cabral Storytelling Assembly was great! He has such a way with words. Students really enjoyed him.
- The ROAR assemblies were on Friday-we recognized ROAR model students, our shining staff members as well as acknowledged students achieving the Wit & Grit Award. See pics below!
- March 20th is Crossing Guard Appreciation Day...and we've got the best crossing in town. Thank you to Ms. Bonnie for all she does for our kiddos and families! The Academy Ambassadors surprised her Friday by inviting her to the ROAR Celebration and presenting her with the Shining Star Award! Ms. Rosemond's K class and Mrs. Herlihy's 5th grade class took home the Golden Paws! Keep up the great work!
Have a great weekend!
Mr. Higgins
Also, please remember being on time every day is important. The late bell rings at 9:05am. It's also important to note that for students arriving later than 10:30, fun lunch will be the only option for those getting lunch in the cafe.
