Daylighting Laws / Leyes de Iluminación Natural
🚸 Student and staff safety during drop-off and pick-up requires everyone's commitment. Together with the Burlingame Police Department, we are working to maintain a secure environment around our schools. Special thanks to the Burlingame Police Department for their ongoing partnership and assistance in maintaining safe school zones. Please note that traffic violations can result in citations. 🚸
Restricted Zones
Red zones are strictly no-parking areas. Vehicles may not stop or park, even partially, in these zones.
White zones are designated for passenger loading and unloading only. Vehicles must not:
Stop longer than necessary for loading/unloading
Be left unattended at any time
Prohibited Areas Stopping within crosswalks is strictly prohibited Double-parking in the street is not allowed Assembly Bill 413, nicknamed the“Daylighting Law,” amends the vehicle code to add a new section (22500(n) CVC), effective January 2024. This prohibits parking within 20- feet of the approach side of a marked or unmarked crosswalk. Starting January 2025, vehicles found in violation are subject to citation. This is only for the approach side, so only vehicles parked as you arrive at the intersection/crosswalk. It would still be permissible to park closer than 20 feet on the opposite side (the side going away from the intersection). Parent/Guardian Guidelines The Burlingame School District and Burlingame Police Department strongly encourage all parents and guardians to: Plan ahead for drop-off and pick-up Park only in legal parking spaces when walking children into school Follow all posted parking regulations This partnership between the Burlingame School District and the Burlingame Police Department aims to protect the safety of our students, staff, and community members as they navigate our streets. “Daylighting Law”
