ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOD'S GOOD PURPOSES

"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

zoom_out_map

Principal's Corner

Preach the Gospel at all times, if necessary, use words!

It has been said that sometimes we are the only ‘Bible’ a person will ever read. We are a letter from

Christ. “You are a letter from Christ...This ‘letter’ is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts.” 2 Cor. 3:3 NLT.

When you are sharing your faith, or even in your everyday relationships, always try to go the extra mile with people. Go beyond “fast, free, and practical.” Be more than an emoji in a text, or a short email quip, be a precious letter from Christ and take the time to let them know how loved and treasured they are by you and by the Lord!

As we quickly approach the upcoming summer, remember to cherish every minute and every encounter with others. Love is often spelled T-I-M-E.

I pray that you and your family will have a blessed and relaxing summer preaching the Gospel to all those you encounter.

Blessings,

Dr. Paul Marquardt, Principal

GARDEN GARDEN

open_in_new zoom_out_map

Dear Parents,

The RHLS Learning Garden is a curriculum based, multi-sensory, hands-on experience designed to enrich the student's knowledge and appreciation of God's creation. Garden curriculum supports what is taught in the classroom. For example, 4th graders learn about California, so they plant a California Agriculture garden and learn by touch, sight, smell and taste. What a way to reinforce the lesson content in the garden and in their classroom!!!

There is a Fall garden and a Spring garden. Both have planting and harvest visits. You can sign up for 1 or more teachers (use the TABS at the top of the page to sign up for other grades). It is very helpful if you sign up for all 4 visits for a teacher for continuity since each visit is based on what was taught and experienced during prior visits. However, if that is not possible, please sign up for what you can as we are grateful for any time you can commit to!

We also encourage grandparents or other relatives to participate. It's a great way to have a wonderful experience with your child or grandchild (the kids are so proud when their parent, grandparent, etc. are at the visit with them!).

You will receive 1 volunteer hour for every visit you attend. Since we get so many wonderful volunteers this year, we are asking for 1 volunteer from each class to LEAD the lesson; please don't let this hinder your willingness to volunteer. "LEADING" might mean reading a book or guiding students to plant or telling them about the craft or how to observe the garden and fill out their worksheet - guided instructions are provided in advance so please do not be intimidated - this is an easy roll and allows our garden leaders the chance to help kids and answer questions on a more individual basis. Plus, the kids love to see their parents’ involvement! If you are interested, please add in the comments that you are willing to lead.

Garden Preparation/Clean Out Days are not student visit days but typically on a weekend or afterschool where we need to clean out the garden to ready it for a new season of planting or where we need to make sure the garden looks spic and span for Open House. These are great opportunities for working parents to volunteer outside of the work day and usually go pretty quickly if we have lots of help! You will receive service hours for every hour you work.

Garden Maintenance Days are times between planting and harvest where we just need some extra help maintaining the garden, mostly pulling weeds, ensuring garden is clean, etc. These can be done in your own time (within the week noted) and will receive 1 hour of volunteer time for each time slot.

SCHOOL SAFETY SCHOOL SAFETY

Hello there!

Thank you for subscribing to our "Download" newsletter. I've received great feedback from parents about how the information we share in the Download helps them feel informed and confident. I love that. Please share it with anyone!

This is a quick "non-Download" message, and I have two things:

  1. I need help in a focus group. We're exploring an idea for families and I need your input! If you want to learn more, please go here.
  2. I wrote a deeply personal post about sin, social media, and The Anxious Generation. I'd love your thoughts. If you want to read it, please go here.

Note: I know not all PYE followers are Christians but I think even non-Christians might find it interesting. #delayistheway!

RHLC YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRY RHLC YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRY

Hi Red Hill Families!

Happy May! As we begin the last month of the school year, our Youth and Family Ministry (YFM) Team would like to take this moment to thank you for allowing us the opportunity to accompany you and your family on your spiritual journeys this past school year. It is such a privilege and we don’t take it for granted!

Each life stage is unique. As we approach the end of the school year, this is a great time to look backward, reflect on the perseverance and growth of the past year, celebrate the achievements or spiritual milestones, and then shift your gaze forward, looking at what lies ahead in the next life stage.

Through all the phases, our YFM Team is here to help you navigate these changes as well as offer your children opportunities to be involved with some fun, faith-building events. During the summer months, children and youth of all ages will have an opportunity to participate in a week-long camp experience. Registration for all camps are open and we encourage your children to participate.

June 9th-13th is VBS Week on our campus. All children, preschool through 6th grade, are invited to join us as we take the ultimate Alaskan adventure, where the northern lights shine over majestic mountains, racing rivers, and sparkling glaciers. As we trek the tundra, we will discover how easy it is to lose sight of what’s true in our wild world today. Looking to Jesus during this fun-filled week, we will see that Jesus is a faithful friend we can always trust. Jesus is our True North! Activities will include wild Bible adventures, glacier games, cool crafts in our Imagination Station, tundra treats, worship, and time with our friends. You won’t want to miss VBS - the Very Best week of Summer!

7th and 8th Grade students, high school students and adults are invited to join us on this adventure by serving on our VBS Team. Click here for more information.

JUMP: Summer Overnight Camp 2025

Monday, July 28th to Friday, August 1st 2025

Summer camp is the place for your incoming 6th to 9th grader! During this 5-day camp, we will explore what it means to trust God and JUMP into our faith. This is a chance for students to connect with their peers and build friendships, and challenge themselves to grow deeper in their faith.

This summer, Red Hill Lutheran Church & School will be going to a private 5-acre estate in Palm Desert! Our group will have exclusive access to two pools, a regulation-size tennis court, fire pits, and so much more. Whether soaking up the sun, playing sports, swimming, or unwinding with friends, this retreat will balance fun and intentionality, creating lasting memories and helping students JUMP deeper into their faith! Contact Tim Rivera for more information.

Because Red Hill's YFM Team is devoted to the whole family throughout all the life phases from babies through adulthood, each ministry area has dedicated staff and small group leaders who are passionately committed to walking with all of our children and families, offering support as needed in each step of the journey as we strive to raise a generation of believers who desire to know Jesus and make Him known in a world who so desperately needs to hear the Good News of the Gospel.

"Faith Grows: Apostle's Creed & The Fruit of Faith

A great season of joy extends from Easter to Pentecost in the Church! Join us Sunday mornings in T.O.T.S. Ministry, as we explore stories recounting the acts of the apostles. The kids will learn what we believe about the Holy Spirit by repeating part three of the Apostle's Creed, and our Bible stories will follow the growth of the Church throughout the first century. We will play and sing about how the good news of Christ's victory produces the good fruit of faith in believers. Alleluia! Christ is Risen! All babies, toddlers, and preschool aged children are invited to join us on Sunday mornings in Classroom 11.

Using a combination of large group and small group conversations and activities, our K.I.D.S. Ministry Team intentionally strives to create an engaging environment where children, kindergarten through 5th grade, come to Know Jesus, Impact the world around them, become Disciples of Jesus, and Serve others - K.I.D.S.!

K.I.D.S. MINISTRY’S APRIL TEACHING SERIES – “WHAT'S NEXT”

A Teaching Series from Acts on The Early Church

Puzzles don't come with step-by-step instructions for solving them. That's what makes them so much fun. You have to try to figure out the next best step to take. When Jesus left Earth, his followers had to wonder the same thing — "What's next?" During this 4-week series about the Early Church, kids will see how Jesus' followers solved the puzzle of what to do next and the ways we can follow in their footsteps. As kids discover what to do next, they'll learn they can follow Jesus, pray for others, love like Jesus did, and share the good news. All children, kindergarten-5th grade, are invited to join us in the K.I.D.S. Zone.

Student Ministry March Teaching Series: What If…

A series from the New Testament on Righting Wrongs

Some of the most incredible pieces of art were created when the artist wondered, "What if I ... ?" Their curiosity inspired them to look at what was in front of them to imagine something entirely different. As we grow closer to God, we realize that God asks us to do something similar—to look through the hurt, pain, and evil in the world and wonder what it might look like for things to be different.

In this 4-week series from the New Testament and the Prophets, we'll wonder about what it might look like to be a part of making a difference as we explore questions like what if God wants you to meet someone's needs, rest, help others heal, or make wrong things right?

If you have any questions or if you need more information, please feel free to contact Student Ministry Coordinator, Tim Rivera, at trivera@redhillchurch.org.

Kickoff Night for Incoming 6th Graders

All incoming 6th graders and parents are invited to join us on Wednesday, May 21st, for our Kickoff Night to see what Middle School Ministry has to offer. Come hang out, make new friends, enjoy some great food, and see what makes youth group awesome! Parents are invited on this special night to meet our amazing leaders, ask questions, and see what is in store for you while you enter into this exciting time. We can’t wait to welcome you—see you there! Contact Student Ministry Coordinator, Tim Rivera, at trivera@redhillchurch.org for more information.

JUMP: YFM MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP 2025

Summer camp is the place for your incoming 6th to 9th grader! During this 5-day camp, we will explore what it means to trust God and JUMP into our faith. This is a chance for students to connect with their peers and build friendships, and challenge themselves to grow deeper in their faith.

This summer, Red Hill Lutheran Church & School is heading to an incredible retreat in Palm Desert! Our group will stay at a beautiful, private, gated 5-acre estate with exclusive access to:

  • Two pools, a large pond with an outdoor pavilion

  • A tennis court that converts into multiple pickleball courts

  • Cabanas and fire pits for evening gatherings

Whether students are soaking up the sun, playing sports, swimming, or unwinding with friends, this retreat is the perfect blend of fun, connection, and an opportunity to JUMP deeper in their faith!
