THANK YOU, LHHS PTA
The LHHS PTA is the best! Thank you so much for sponsoring our Cup Drive! We met our goal, everyone loves their cups, and we are blown away by the generosity of our community! We also want to thank the LHHS PTA for all of our snacks on our back to school professional development days!
THANK YOU, LH WILDCAT CLUB
A huge "thank you" goes out to the LH Wildcat Club for treating all of our faculty and staff to lunch during our professional development days. We loved our lunch from Mariano's! Thank you for thinking about us!
THANK YOU, LH BAND
Our band wished us a great year with treats! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this, and thank you for always thinking about everyone at LHHS!
THANK YOU, LAKE HIGHLANDS JUNIOR WOMEN'S LEAGUE
We are so thankful for the generosity of the Lake Highlands Junior Women's League! They donated boxes and boxes of school supplies for our kids and teachers. Thank you so much for thinking about us!
THANK YOU, EXCHANGE CLUB OF LAKE HIGHLANDS
Thank you, Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, for providing dinner for everyone who attended last week's Fall Sports Kick Off! We appreciate the time you gave to support our school and our athletic programs!
JROTC LEADERS
Our JROTC program hosted a Leadership Camp from August 10th to August 15th, and 30 cadets attended. The goal of the camp was to prepare the next group of JROTC Cadets to serve as leaders within the Wildcat Battalion. As a part of the schedule, the cadets executed their first School Support Project aimed at increasing positive sentiments of “Area Beautification” around the LHHS campus. Areas of focus included the internal courtyards near A, B, and C halls and the LH plot near the flagpole. Thank you, LTC (Ret.) Robert Gerald (JROTC) and MSG (Ret.) Calvin Washington (JROTC) for your hard work in creating this experience for our cadets!
WORKING BEFORE THE SUN COMES UP
The Wildcats in the LHHS Band do more before 6:45am than the average person! They spent numerous hours this summer and last week preparing for their show. Thank you, Reagan Brumley (Band Director and LH Area Fine Arts Coordinator), Danny Martinez (Color Guard Director), Claire Pittman (Assistant Band Director), Aaron Singleton (Assistant Band Director), and Andrew Smit (Percussion Director), for your work with our band program and kids!
JOIN THE TEAM
Our STUCO leaders stopped by all lunch periods on Friday to recruit new members. Students were greeted and given a STUCO pencil to encourage them to join. During lunch, STUCO also encouraged students to vote for this year's Homecoming Week themes. Thank you, Erin Chesal (AP World Geography, Social Studied Department Head, and STUCO Sponsor), for all of your work with our STUCO program and kids!
CONGRATULATIONS, COACH MEIKLEJOHN
Our Senior Class Officers sponsored last Friday's Flamingo Friday! Congratulations to our winner, Kelley Meiklejohn (Chemistry and Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach), for being our first winner! She won a bag of treats, and her class won a popcorn party! Thank you, Tessa Pettigrew (Assistant Principal and Senior Class Administrator) and Alan Kirby (Digital Coach and Varsity Cheer Coach), for making Flamingo Fridays possible!
FALL SPORTS KICK OFF
We had so much fun during last week's Fall Sports Kick Off! Our Wildcats had a great time running through the tunnel as their name was introduced, and they showed their Wildcat Pride as they represented their team! Thank you, Lonnie Jordan (Head Varsity Football Coach, Boys Athletic Coordinator, and LH Area Athletic Coordinator) and Alonna Miller (Cross Country Coach, Track Coach, PE, and Girls Athletic Coordinator), for your work with all of our athletes and programs!

2022-2023 PANDEMIC PROTOCOLS
RISD continues to implement a variety of precautions and protocols in response to the pandemic to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Although protocols are subject to change based on guidance from the state of Texas, public health authorities, or conditions in Dallas County, RISD is committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment for all students:
· When COVID community levels are high, masks are strongly encouraged while indoors. Students and staff will be provided with a mask upon request. RISD has an ample supply of masks (surgical/N95/KN95) available for students and staff.
· An air purifier system is provided in every classroom.
· Increased ventilation and HVAC air filtering where possible in classrooms, indoor common areas, and student transportation.
· Campuses will be encouraged to utilize outdoor learning spaces for lunch and other learning experiences when CDC community level is high and it can be done safely.
· Students with symptoms or diagnosis of COVID-19 should not attend school.
· RISD monitors positive cases and total absences at each campus on an ongoing basis.

Parent Corner - Resources for RISD Parents
Parents are integral to student success. From working with children at home to actively participating in school and activities, parent involvement provides many positive benefits to a child’s education. Please explore the RISD Parent Corner website to find resources and tools for parents to support their student's educational needs, such as creating a Focus account to view student grades, assignments, and attendance.
One resource on the Digital Tools & Resources page is a link to the Google Family Link app that claims to "help your family create healthy digital habits." The app allows parents to "set digital ground rules to help guide [children] as they learn, play, and explore online." There is also a way for parents to lock a child's cellphone during a specified time, such as the school day.
The Parent Corner site also includes RISD resources, parent education opportunities, and community information, such as ESL classes at Berkner High School.
RISD Adult Education also offers GED classes, ESL classes, paths to career certifications and more through the Network of Community Ministries located at 1500 International Parkway in Richardson. Please use this form to register for these classes at Network.
