From the Principal From the Principal

Hello Page Families

As we move into November, I’m reminded of how much this season invites us to pause and reflect, not only on what we’re grateful for but also on the connections that lift us and the progress our students continue to make every day.

Parent-teacher conferences are a big part of this month, and they offer a valuable opportunity for families and teachers to come together, celebrate successes, and set goals for the months ahead. I encourage every family to take part, as these conversations truly make a difference in supporting student growth and success.

I am grateful to be part of the amazing Page community. Your support, partnership, and dedication to our students make Page a truly special place to learn and grow. A huge thank you to our wonderful PTO for putting on such a fun and festive Harvest Party for our students and families. Please consider joining the PTO and helping make Page an even better place for our kids.

Warmly,

Teresa Collins

The Impact of Early Pick-Ups on Classroom Learning

At our school, every minute of instruction counts. When students are picked up before the school day ends, it may seem like a small interruption-but those missed minutes truly add up. Teachers carefully plan learning activities right up until dismissal, and stepping out early can cause students to miss important instruction, collaboration, and closure of their learning for the day.

Additionally, early departures can disrupt the entire classroom. When a student gathers belongings and leaves during a lesson, it can break the focus of both the child and their peers. Over time, frequent early pick-ups can leave students with learning gaps and make it harder for them to stay on track academically.

We understand that life happens, appointments, and family needs are sometimes unavoidable. When such occasions arise, we ask families to communicate with the school in advance whenever possible. By planning early dismissals carefully and limiting them to necessary situations, we can work together to support consistent learning and help all students stay fully engaged through the final bell.

Thank you for your partnership in ensuring that every student receives the full benefit of their school day!

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day

On Friday, November 14, we will participate in the Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. This annual event honors Ruby Bridges, who in 1960 became the first Black student to integrate an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. At just six years old, Ruby faced angry mobs and daily threats; yet, she walked into school each day with courage and determination, changing the course of history.

This year, our school will participate in a special day of remembrance and learning. Students will be learning about Ruby Bridges through read-alouds, artwork projects, a schoolwide assembly, and an all-school walk around campus to honor her incredible legacy. Together, we will reflect on themes of bravery, inclusion, anti-racism, and kindness.

Toys at School

We’ve noticed an increase in toys being brought to school, which can cause distractions during learning time. Please remind your child that toys should remain at home; if a toy is brought by mistake, it should stay in their backpack for the entire day. If a child is found playing with a toy at school, the teacher will hold onto it until the end of the day. If this becomes a recurring issue, a parent or guardian will need to come to school to pick it up. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a focused learning environment.

A Note About Dogs at Pick-Up

We love seeing your furry friends at pick-up! For safety reasons, please help us by keeping dogs back from the main crowd and not allowing students other than your own to approach or pet them. This helps ensure all of our students feel safe and keeps both kids and pets comfortable at dismissal time. Thank you for your cooperation!

Lost and Found

Please make sure all of your child's clothing and personal items are clearly labeled with their name. This helps us return lost items quickly and keeps belonging organized. Thank you for helping us keep track of everyone's belongings!

Campus Supervision

Supervision for students starts at 8am when doors open for breakfast. All student dropped off will be asked to wait in the cafeteria even if they are not eating breakfast. If a parent stays with a student outside and waits for doors to open, they may wait in front of the school. There is no supervision prior to 8:00. PLEASE DO NOT DROP YOUR STUDENTS(S) OFF PRIOR TO 8:00.

Dress for Success

Students should wear shoes and clothes that are comfortable running and playing in. Students need appropriate shoes for recess and PE, so please save flip flops and high heels for home. Clothing should be free from any images of drugs, alcohol, or weapons. We have recess outside rain or shine, so please make sure your student is dressed for the weather.

PTO

We have an amazing and active PTO! We would love to have you join and make Page School even more amazing! Joining the PTO is a great way to connect with other families and provide input on school events. Our next PTO meeting is on Monday, November 10th.

Communication

It is very important that we have a correct email address for parents/guardians. You will be able to access communication platforms and we can send you important information and updates as we continue through the school year. You can update your email through your parentVUE account.

Our teachers use Seesaw as their primary communication platform. Please look for a link from your student's teacher to sign up for their class communication. If you have any trouble signing up for Seesaw please reach out. It is critical that you receive the communication shared via this app throughout the school year.
