June 3, 2022
Dear Weymouth Public Schools' Community,
What an exceptional week for Weymouth Public Schools as the Class of 2022 prepares for graduation tomorrow morning!
There were many exciting events and announcements across the district this week, and with upcoming field days, fun runs, and end of the year programs you can expect the excitement to continue until the end of June. A few highlights from this week include:
- Weymouth seniors were welcomed back to their old elementary schools for one last celebration before graduation. You can find below a short video of the excitement from Pingree Elementary, and an excerpt from the Hamilton Elementary senior celebration.
- Weymouth High School students were featured in the local news for their advocacy and efforts in supporting Pride month through the creation of the first ever Pride crosswalk at WHS. Thank you to all the students, staff members, volunteers, and the Weymouth Pride Project for making this beautiful display of inclusion possible.
- The district announced Nerecesa Pires as the next Principal of Seach Elementary School! The communication that was sent to Seach with more information about Mrs. Pires is included below.
- Save the Date: The Weymouth Market will celebrate its final market on Wednesday, July 6. Details included below.
- Representative James Murphy visited WHS to learn more about our CTE programs and tour the cosmopolitan and auto tech shops. Thank you, Representative Murphy!
Below are pictures from many of these highlights, and additional information you may find useful. I hope all of our families, especially those of our graduating class, have a fantastic weekend. We are so proud of the Class of 2022, and all of your accomplishments, and look forward to celebrating each and every one of you, and your families, tomorrow.
Best Regards,
Robert Wargo
Superintendent
A "Good as Gold" Tradition -
This week seniors were welcomed back to their former elementary schools for one last goodbye and some parting words with their former educators and current students.
At Hamilton (pictured below), former students were welcomed back with a congratulatory parade, old yearbooks, a class interview with Hamilton 5th grade students, and an abundance of pride and recognition. Some students even walked away with a time capsule that has been stored since they were in third grade by their old teacher, Mr. Jeffrey Snow, who retires this year.
It was a morning filled with educators supporting students from their earliest school years until they graduate, elementary school students rooting for seniors, seniors coaching younger students, and students supporting their peers at every level of education.
At the end of the visit the senior class answered questions from current Hamilton students. They proudly declared to the fifth grade students in their former elementary school that they are the next lawyers, chefs, psychologists, actors, chemists, biomedical engineers, medical sonographers, nurses, doctors, social workers, business executives, economists, police officers, and so much more, of the future.
They are our future, and we are so proud of our entire graduating class! Great job Hamilton and all our elementary schools that welcomed back Weymouth seniors this week!
Pingree Class of 2022 Welcome Back!
Beautiful Display of Inclusion: First Ever Pride Crosswalk at WHS!
Thank you to everyone involved with this project including the students of the Human Rights Coalition, the Weymouth Pride Project, Ms. Nicole LoPorto, Mr. Brian Duane Principal Alan Strauss, with the support of the School Committee and Superintendent Wargo.
