SWPBIS

SWPBIS initiated a new program to help promote positive behavior during lunchtime. Each time a lunch table cleans up, stays quiet, and sits in their seats, they earn a mitten. Take a look at all the mittens that were earned! WOW! Keep up the hard work and continue to earn those 'Hats' during the month of January.

A Pickle in PE!

Tawanka students are learning and practicing the sport that’s exploding in popularity in America – Pickleball!

Many thanks to the Tawanka PTO for their fundraising efforts, which paid for the paddles. Many thanks to Engage Pickleball for the amazingly low price for top-notch paddles.

Not only did Engage help us with the cost of the paddles, they gave Mr. Wright coupons to share with all of you if you want to purchase pickleball equipment. Contact Mr. Wright if you want a coupon.

Lost and Found

Congratulations Detective Zaffino!

Tawanka Kindergarten made a giant card for Officer Zaffino congratulating him on being promoted to Detective. Although we will miss seeing him in the building regularly, we are happy he has received a promotion for all his hard work.

Mrs. Geers

Mrs. Geers' kindergarten class has been using a variety of materials to explore and build all different flat and 3 dimensional shapes which they are studying during math.

Mrs. Trotta

Kindergarten has been working hard during Math class to learn about both solid and flat shapes. We've learned about sides, corners, faces, shapes that slide, and shapes that roll. Recently, Miss Trotta's class used shapes to create pictures! We made trees, birds, flowers, houses, people, and many more interesting creations. What can you make from shapes?!

Mrs. Fedele

First grade students learned about Martin Luther King and his positive impact on our country. Students wrote what their dream would be to make the world a better place.

Mrs. Tryon

Mrs. Tryon’s class has been getting into the winter spirit and thinking SNOW! First, they showed off their multiplication skills by creating snowmen using multiplication wheels. They also wrote some snow poetry and created some snowflakes to decorate the classroom. Finally, they practiced their spelling words by writing them in “snow!” Now we just need the real stuff!!

Ms. Schautz

Ms. Schautz's students reflected on the past year and chose their “Word of 2023”, which is something they will strive to be this year, and made art out of it! Here are the results!

Mrs. McHugh, Mrs. Blaydon & Mrs. Cromwell

Fourth grade has been learning about the phases of the moon, and to show off their knowledge of the 8 different phases, they re-created them using Oreos!

4th Grade Football!

The 4th Grade Intramural Football playoffs are beginning next week and the winning team will be crowned The Tawanka Bowl Champions!

The Champions will then be playing the 4th grade teachers and other staff members!
