How DCSD Responds to Emergencies
The Douglas County School District (DCSD) follows the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) at all facilities. SRP is not based on individual scenarios, but on the response to any given scenario. There are five SRP commands:
- Hold - followed by the Directive: βIn Your Room or Areaβ and is the protocol used when hallways need to kept clear of occupants.
- Secure - followed by the Directive: βGet Inside. Lock Outside Doorsβ and is the protocol used to safeguard people within the building.
- Lockdown - followed by βLocks, Lights, Out of Sightβ and is the protocol used to secure individual rooms and keep occupants quiet and in place.
- Evacuate - may be followed by a location, and is used to move people from one location to a different location in or out of the building.
- Shelter - State the Hazard and Safety Strategy for group and self protection.
Any time the SRP is activated at one of our schools, the DCSD Communications team will quickly send parents at the impacted school an alert via phone, text and email. To help ensure that you are receiving District emergency notifications, please be sure to update your contact information in Workday.

Jack Kronser, Human Resources Director
Job satisfaction and camaraderie are just a couple of reasons Jack Kronser, a human resources director, is enjoying his second time around in DCSD as a 110 employee.
βDuring my first 15 years with the district, I had two offices at Wilcox and we had a recruitment office near the AMC theaters in Highlands Ranch. Iβve had the opportunity to interview thousands of candidates. Many of them were hired as teachers. Some are still here as teachers and as administrators. I even remember where I met some of them! Many years ago we had a rock band with administrators and a board member playing at DCSD social functions. We were pretty good! I still play the bass guitar and am ready to join another band. I love music and collect vinyl records to play on my turntable. Every Monday I volunteer at the state capitol as a tour guide. I get to meet tourists from every state and many foreign countries. I'm the guy if you want to know more about your capitol!"
