Star Power with Purpose: Justin Morgan & The Chi Cast Visit Proviso East! Star Power with Purpose: Justin Morgan & The Chi Cast Visit Proviso East!

On Friday, May 16, our juniors and seniors were truly inspired when former Pirate Justin Morgan brought the cast of the hit TV show The Chi to Proviso East! This visit was not only exciting but also powerful. The cast shared their personal stories and career paths, opening our students' eyes to the myriad possibilities in the entertainment industry and beyond.

Justin, who proudly serves on the board of Chi Gives Back and is a highly successful road manager, has long been dedicated to uplifting our youth, and this visit showcased that commitment. He has worked in the community for years, and it was a full-circle moment to help expand our students' beliefs about what is possible. Thank you, Justin, for demonstrating what it means to lead with heart, give back with purpose, and be a shining example of what a Pirate can achieve. We also thank Mr. Hull for his vision and promise to Proviso East. Keeping students first in all that we do.

A Historic First For Proviso Township High Schools & Our Future Runners! A Historic First For Proviso Township High Schools & Our Future Runners!

On Monday, May 12, we proudly hosted the First Annual Proviso Township High Schools Cross Country Meet. It was an inspiring event that brought together our feeder district students and families from District 91, 89, and 88 for an unforgettable day of fun, fitness, and future building. This initiative, the vision of our Superintendent Mr. Krish Mohip, was about more than just racing; it was about building bridges between schools, communities, and the young leaders of tomorrow.

Track & Field students from East and West were there to not just run, but to mentor, motivate, and push students to the finish line. 8th grade students were encouraged to continue their love of the sport by participating in Proviso High Schools Summer Camps and joining teams in the fall. Their presence along with their coaches, reminded younger students of what's possible when they stay committed and connected.

Events like this matter. They help students from different communities see themselves as part of something bigger. We are a township family with shared resources and a shared future. Regardless of their path-academics, athletics, or the arts- early exposure to the high school experience plants seeds of confidence and belonging. Mr. Mohip is just getting started. We are excited the finish lines we'll cross together and more students seeing just how far they can go.

Celebrating Excellence In Education Celebrating Excellence In Education

Fireworks don't just light up the sky on the 4th of July. They also celebrate the one and only Ms. Vanessa Collins, whose birthday is as bold and beautiful as her spirit!

Ms. Collins is the heartbeat of the Spanish 2 and Spanish 3 classrooms at Proviso East, where she brings language to life with energy, compassion, and authenticity. Her students don't just conjugate verbs, they connect with culture, confidence, and community.

But wait, there's more!

Ms. Collins wears many hats and wears them well:

  • Freshman Success Coach- helping new Pirates start strong and feel seen.
  • Raza Unida Sponsor- creating space for cultural pride, unity, and celebration.
  • Student Youth Fellowship Club Sponsor- where students grow in faith and purpose and is student led.

She's kind. She's supportive. And she instinctively goes the extra mile. Whether it's staying after school for a student, lifting spirits with her incredible singing voice (yes, she can SANG), or recommending a binge-worthy crime drama (she's a true-crime queen) we love the wonderful Ms. Collins!

Ms. Collins is the perfect blend of joy, warmth, and dedication to Proviso East. She's the type of teacher that leaves a lasting impression not just on students, but on the entire school. Thank you Ms. Collins for being the spark, the support, and the song behind so many students success.

We're lucky to have you.

Viva Ms. Collins!
