Back-to-School Welcome Note
Dear SGB Families,
As we step into a new school year, we welcome familiar faces as well as new faces to another great year at SGB. As we start the new year, I believe it's important to build relationships and get to know each other. I find myself reflecting on the blessings of this past summer. Like many of you, while my calendar was filled with work to prepare for the school year, it also included family, travel, and moments of both joy and reflection.
We began the summer in Ireland, gathered for a family funeral. Even though I was thousands of miles away, sitting in church there felt like being home—a reminder that faith and family connect us no matter where we are. Soon after, our annual Lake George trip brought together 20+ relatives, filling the days with laughter and traditions that anchor us year after year.
There were other milestones too: celebrating the wedding of my high school friend’s daughter (a friendship that goes all the way back to 5th grade and our time together at Albertus Magnus), time at the beach, beginning driving lessons with my oldest son, soccer tryouts, a Yankee win, and even a cross-country road trip to visit my brother and his family in Wisconsin. Most importantly, I made time to exhale and read some great books! I hope you each found a way to recharge this summer.
While my “to-do list” of household chores went unfinished, what was accomplished was far greater: time spent with those I love most, including our dogs: Bubba and Scout. These moments reaffirmed for me what is truly important...showing up, being present, and seeing God in one another not only through our words but through our actions.
This same spirit carries into our school year at St. Gregory Barbarigo. Pope Leo XIII reminds us that “Charity is the root of all good works.” As we begin anew, let us be intentional about how we show care for each other...students, families, faculty, and staff. Together, our community will continue to grow in joy, faith, and learning.
I return to school feeling blessed, grateful, and excited for all that lies ahead. May this year be filled with curiosity, kindness, and the confidence to rise to every challenge.
Welcome back, SGB family - it is time and we are ready for a fantastic year!
With gratitude and joy,
Ms. Noreen Clarke
Principal
