ASVAB Career Assessment
Not sure what you want to do after high school? The ASVAB Career Exploration Program helps you identify your strengths, explore your interests, and discover career paths that match your skills. You do not need to be interested in the military to participate!
This opportunity is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are undecided about their future or want to explore options beyond a traditional four-year college.
When: December 2, 8:30–11:00 a.m.
Where: Westview High School
Note: Some students may finish before Period 1 begins. The office will correct attendance for students whose Period 1 attendance is affected.
Reasons to Consider Taking the SAT or ACT:
- Required by many colleges: A majority of colleges still require or recommend standardized test scores for admission.
- Scholarships and Financial Aid: Some scholarships and financial aid opportunities are tied to SAT or ACT scores.
- Course Placement: Some colleges use test scores to determine appropriate course placement, potentially allowing you to skip introductory courses.

College Visits
Explore Colleges Over Thanksgiving Break!
Thanksgiving break can be a great time to explore colleges and learn more about what you’re looking for in a campus. If you’re traveling, check to see if there are colleges nearby. An in-person visit can give you a better sense of the campus, surrounding area, student life, and overall college environment.
Before visiting, check the college’s website to see if tours or information sessions are available and whether registration is required. Keep in mind that some colleges may have limited tours or activities during Thanksgiving week.
Interested in visiting a CSU or UC campus? Check out the attached guide for Fall Preview Days, open houses, and campus visit opportunities happening this fall. These events are a great way to explore campuses, learn about academic programs and student life, and get a feel for each college.
Can’t visit in person? Explore virtually! Log in to SCOIR to research colleges from home. Explore virtual tours, campus information, student life, and other resources to help you learn more about schools you’re considering.
Make the Most of Your Visit
Explore campus life: Visit the dining hall, walk around campus, and talk with current students.
Look beyond academics: Consider campus culture, location, student activities, and the overall college environment.
Plan ahead: Check academic calendars, tour availability, and registration requirements before you go.
Explore your surroundings: Get a feel for the community and area around campus.
Whether you’re just starting your college search or narrowing down your options, use some of your break to explore, ask questions, and discover what matters most to you in a college!
