HMS Friday Flyover

10/16/26

HMS FridayFlyover10/16/26

From the Principal From the Principal

Hello Hawks!

Even with a shortened week, there was a lot of good energy around Heineman. Weeks like this are a nice reminder that some of the best parts of school happen in the moments where students, staff, and families get a chance to connect outside of the normal day-to-day routine.

This was no more evident than in our 6th Grade Bash. It was great to see our 6th graders spending time together and continuing to build the friendships and connections that make middle school feel more like home. Events like this are an important part of creating a strong school community, and we appreciate everyone who helped make the event such a success.

Weโ€™re also getting ready to turn the page into a new quarter, which always brings a fresh start. Itโ€™s a good opportunity for students to reflect on what went well, think about where they want to improve, and set a few new goals as we head into the next stretch of the year.

A short week, but definitely a good one. Looking forward to everything still ahead this fall. Have a great weekend, Hawks, and keep going ALL IN!

Go All IN Today!

Home / School Connection๐Ÿ  Home / School Connection๐Ÿ

Welcome to our new Home/School Connection corner! Middle school is a time of huge growth, and we are here to partner with you every step of the way. Each week we will share a quick, practical tip to help support your student both in and out of the classroom. These tips will range from simple ways to help with homework and build strong study habits, to strategies for supporting your child's emotional well-being and confidence.

Executive Function Tip: Self Monitoring; Helping your middle schooler notice, check, and make changes. What it is: Self-monitoring means noticing how you are doing, checking your work or behavior and making changes when needed. It helps students catch mistakes stay on track, and become more independent. What you may notice: At home your child may rush through homework, say they are done without checking, or miss directions and mistakes. At school, they may turn in incomplete work, forget to check their answers, or be surprised by grades or feedback. Try this: Stop-Check-Adjust before turning in work. Stop: Pause before saying, "I'm done." Check: Ask "Did I answer every question? Follow all directions? Check my work for mistakes? Adjust: Fix one thing, finish a missing part or ask a question before turning it in.

๐Ÿ“ง Reminder: Students Should Check Their School Email

Parents, please remind your students to check their school email throughout the school day. Important messages may include notifications about early dismissals for appointments, items dropped off in the office, changes to car rider or bus rider arrangements, and other time-sensitive information.

Students are responsible for checking their email, reading these messages, and reporting to the appropriate location at the designated time. We use email rather than classroom phone calls whenever possible to minimize disruptions to instruction and allow teachers to focus on teaching. Thank you for helping us reinforce this important responsibility with your students!

๐ŸšŒ Activity Bus Information

Students must sign up for the activity bus by 12:00 PM each day using the online form. Students are responsible for completing the sign-up form themselves. If needed, students may sign up for an entire week at a time.

We appreciate parentsโ€™ help in encouraging students to take responsibility for signing up on time and planning ahead!

She is enjoying the switch to middle school and working with HMS staff. Outside of school, Stella lives with her husband, cat Amelie, and dog Zoey. She is involved with Woodstock community theater and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

A fun fact about Stella is that she speaks Spanish! She was in one of the first classes of Dual Language learners in the county. She is thankful that she was encouraged to learn a new language at such a young age.
