VISITING THE SCHOOLS AND SURVEYING THE FUTURE
School tours!
ESD Superintendent Dan Snowberger and ESD Board Member Mike Calahan visited Running Creek Elementary School, Singing Hills Elementary, Elizabeth Middle School and Elizabeth High School.
This is part of the Superintendent's weekly visits to school sites. Additionally, board members have been taking time out of their busy schedules to do the same.
Superintendent Snowberger says the two visited with students, school staff and witnessed a lot of coordinated curriculum alignment and instruction at all of the schools.
"We saw a lot of outstanding engagement happening in the classrooms from both teachers and students," Snowberger says. "Also, we greatly appreciate it when our board members are able to visit our schools. These individuals are juggling full-time jobs with their regular board duties and it's really nice when they are able to do these site visits and get a first-hand look at our daily operations."
THE GROUP TASKED WITH PROTECTING OUR SCHOOLS
The Elizabeth School District Safety and Security team has a new look! The team unveiled their new uniforms this week. The uniforms consist of a black collared shirt featuring the ESD logo and the 'security' label on the opposite side of the logo.
Thanks to the leadership and organization of the ESD Safety and Security team, all ESD schools now have an armed presence on campus. This particular team has well over a century of combined law enforcement and military experience.
Next week, keep an eye out for an in-depth interview with ESD Safety and Security Director Jeremy Casey and Operations Coordinator Tyler Rabideau about their team's experience, the training that got them to this point and some of the tools they use to keep our schools safe.
ESD STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: EHS JUNIOR JADEN FRANCIS
EHS Junior Jaden Francis is the latest ESD Student Spotlight!
Jaden is the proud owner of Touchdown Landscaping, a business he owns that handles mowing, trimming and landscaping. Not only does Jaden own his own business, but he also is a sponsor of the EHS football team, which he also plays on!
Jaden's sign with the company logo displayed on it serves as one of the barrier signs that is posted on the football ramp during home games. Jaden says it was an EHS parent who gave him the idea of being a sponsor and he jumped at the opportunity to do it. He also employs two of his friends who also go to EHS.
Check out Jaden's Student Spotlight in the video below and if you know of any other student success stories that really stand out, just send ESD Public Information Officer Jeff Maher an email: jmaher@esdk12.org
GOING THROUGH THE NUMBERS
Monthly financials.
This week the FAC (Finance Advisory Council) group held its first meeting of the school year. The team reviewed end of year financials from 2023-2024 and looked over the budget for the current year.
The team discussed the school district's current enrollment compared to projections and is providing advice to the board on how to best handle some unexpected expenses that happened over the Summer.
The FAC group is made up of individuals who have expertise in finance and have worked in or are currently working in fields that are highly beneficial to the school district. Those fields include healthcare, real estate, banking and military defense. Also serving on FAC is ESD Board Treasurer Mike Calahan.
FAC is a board appointed committee tasked with providing additional insight to the fiscal health of the district. Thank you to our FAC members for all of the work you do in the area of finances and the useful advice that you are providing!

Our first fundraiser was a big success with over $100K in pledges, but there is still a good amount that needs to be raised to hit the overall goal of $300,000 to finish the project. A special thanks to John Rush from Rush To Reason for doing the interview and we are looking forward to Derek's appearance on the show!

SUPERINTENDENT FORUM BRINGS OPEN DISCUSSION ABOUT ESD TOPICS
Thank you to everyone who joined the discussion for our Superintendent Open Forum. This was an opportunity for members of the ESD community to chat face to face with ESD Superintendent Dan Snowberger on various school district related issues.
The group discussed a range of topics including childcare, curriculum, the pathway to becoming a substitute teacher, classroom updates, district direction and student support services.
ESD board members Rhonda Olsen and Mary Powell also joined the discussion.
Superintendent Snowberger says he really enjoyed the opportunity in getting to know parents and constituents in an open dialogue. He went on to say that the open forums are intended to serve as open discussions where anyone can share thoughts and ideas on how to help our district grow and prosper.
The next Superintendent Open Forum is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13th at 6 p.m. in the ESD boardroom. We will be sharing more information on that as the date gets closer.
