BITS AND BARK
SUBURBAN BETHLEHEM LUTHERAN SCHOOL
Week of March 9-13
Our Mission: Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School disciples each generation to grow deeply, serves humbly, and goes boldly in Christ to advance God’s Kingdom.
Growing Through Hard Lessons
As parents and teachers, we share the same hope for our children. We want them to grow into people who are kind, wise, and faithful — the people God created them to be.
But that growth rarely happens without mistakes.
Children are learning every day. Sometimes that means discovering that the language we allow around us becomes the language that comes out. Sometimes loyalty to a friend gets confused with permission to be rude to someone else. Sometimes they follow choices they know are wrong simply because others are doing it.
When those moments happen, it can be hard for us as parents. Our instinct is often to defend or protect our child. Yet one of the most loving things we can do is allow them to learn through correction and guidance from the adults who care about them.
Scripture reminds us:
“Train up a child in the way he should go…” — Proverbs 22:6
In its truest sense, discipline is not punishment. Discipline is teaching. It is helping children learn, grow, and understand how their choices affect others.
At school and at home, we are working together to help children see themselves as Jesus sees them — loved, redeemed, and called to treat others with kindness and respect.
This partnership requires trust. Together, we guide our children through mistakes so they can grow stronger in character and faith.
And through it all, Christ remains our anchor — full of grace, truth, and the promise that He continues to shape each of us as we grow.
Congratulations!

Help us Fill the Basket and Help the Classroom
Class Baskets are a fun way to support your child’s classroom. Every dollar raised goes directly to the teacher to purchase special items, creative supplies, and those little extras that make learning more engaging (and classrooms more magical).
Would you consider helping your child’s teacher by sending in a donation? Your gift helps turn “That would be nice…” into “We can do that!”
Thank you for supporting the teachers who give so much to our kids every day.
