UCS is announcing an exciting new program we are implementing starting the beginning of November. To enhance communication regarding student attendance, we will be utilizing Attendance Intervention, a PowerSchool product designed to streamline updates and alerts for families. With Attendance Intervention, you will receive text messages and email alerts directly from teachers and school leaders, keeping you informed about your child's attendance in real time.

What makes Attendance Intervention unique?

· No Login Required: Messages will automatically be sent to the phone number and email address the school has on file for you.

· Direct Communication: Each message will come from a unique phone number associated with the sender. This direct line allows you to easily save the sender’s number in your phone and reply directly to them, if desired.

· Absence Alerts: Families will be notified if a student is absent from school in a timely fashion.

· Say Goodbye to Language Barriers: Attendance Intervention translates text and email messages into more than 90 languages, based on the preferred language on file.

We are excited to announce our partnership with Eisenhower NHS students this school year! If you are interested in your child receiving homework help, please sign up below. The program begins October 26th and it will be from 4:00-5:00 in the Media Center. Parents must pick up their child at 5:00.

We have a half-day on Halloween. We have dismissal at 12:09. Please work with your child's teacher if there are any volunteering opportunities for that day. Remember, you must have a background check on file to volunteer. All classroom volunteers must sign into the office and get a sticker so we are notified that you are slated to work in a classroom.

We will be having our parade indoors in our gym / cafeteria. Please see the process below…

· The parade will begin at 11:00.

· The wall will be open in the gym / cafeteria and we will set out the lunch tables in the center of the gym.

· Parents are asked to begin entering the building no earlier than 10:30. You must have your ID with you and be prepared to show it to our camera. An announcement will be made at 10:50 for any volunteers who are volunteering in the classroom to make their way to the gym.

· Parents will be allowed to sit at the tables or line the walls in the gym / cafeteria.

· We will parade around the gym and through the tables (please remain in the gym until an announcement is made).

· Announcements will then be made signaling parents to either leave the building or if they would like to take their children out early, they may go to the classrooms. We encourage one parent to go to each classroom when signing out your children early. If you have more than one guardian present and have multiple children, you can split up and go sign out your children.

· Teachers will have sign-out sheets in their classrooms and parents will check out with the teacher.

Finally, we are aware that many of our families will want to view our parade. Please do not park on our grass.

All visitors to the classroom areas of our school are now being asked to swipe their driver’s license or government issued ID before entering the main part of our building. This swipe will quickly provide an updated check against national sex offender registries. This process is for anyone who is going past our school office for any reason.

If you are planning to volunteer in our classrooms or work directly with a student, you will need to have a volunteer background form on file. The form is located at this link. The background check involves multiple state and federal law enforcement data bases.

Volunteer applications need to be renewed annually. If the volunteer application was submitted in November, a new application does not need to be renewed until November (one calendar year). Raptor will automatically send a renewal application when the current volunteer approval is approaching its expiration date.

It is strongly recommended parents/guardians download the Raptor Safe app in order to create a visitor profile. The Raptor Safe app offers a convenient and secure way for visitors to manage and verify their identify before arriving at school. This profile provides a Raptor Passport which can be used to quickly and easily check in at the school office via the app.

ParentSquare will be used to share district and school emails, texts, and phone calls. Our goal is to streamline communication in a way that is more efficient, effective, and convenient for UCS families.

A few quick things to know:
No Account Required to Start: While you don't need an account to receive district messages, creating one gives you a central hub to view past announcements, calendar events, and forms.
Custom Preferences: If you choose, ParentSquare allows you to determine how (email, text, app) and when (instant vs. daily digest) you receive notifications.
