A Time of Gratitude

Dear Families and Community,

There is so much to be grateful for right now. Thanks to our tireless PTC, the Harvest Party was a huge success, and a great time was had by all of the children. Fun events like this can't happen without our amazing volunteers, and I know we have asked a lot of you since school started. Thanks for continuing to be there for our kids. ❤️

We also can't thank our community enough for the incredible support that was provided for our annual Food & Hygiene Drive! In total, over 2800 items were collected!

Last week was a short but busy week indeed. We had a visit from Dr. Gustavo Balderas, BSD's superintendent. He took some time out of his schedule to meet with four 5th grade Leadership Club students, who asked him questions about his daily work. Dr. Balderas enjoyed his time at Terra Linda, and I felt proud to show off our little school to him!

Thank you for attending conferences. This is such an important time for families and school staff to sit down together to talk, hope, celebrate and set goals that will foster growth over the course of the year. Conferences also provide us an opportunity to form a shared responsibility to work together and actively support one another in the academic and social-emotional development of our students. We are full of appreciation for our incredible PTC for providing dinner for our staff on Tuesday evening. There were enough leftovers to continue providing sustenance well into Wednesday evening too!

I never feel like I have enough "thank yous" for all of the gratitude in my heart for this community and all the goodness it provides. School is closed for the entire week of November 20-24 this year. Wishing you all a warm and restful break filled with joyful moments and a bounty of reasons to be grateful.

My best,

Wendy

4th & 5th Grade After School Enrichment Clubs Update

Our teachers have been busy planning, and we are finally ready to accept club applications for the after school enrichment program for 4th and 5th graders. Later today, 4th and 5th grade families will receive an informational note, as well as a link to a google form to express interest. Please take the time to read the note carefully before signing up.

In order to ensure adequate time for bus routing, the new start date for after school clubs will be the Wednesday before winter break, Wednesday, December 13th. Clubs will last for 20 Wednesdays and will end on May 15th, 2024.

OBOB NEWS

We had a lively first OBOB meeting in October, and the kids are reading up a storm. If your student is interested in joining, it is not too late! The November meeting will be held Thursday, 11/16 from 3:05 (right after dismissal) at 4 pm in the Terra Linda library. You MUST register your student in order for them to attend the meeting. You can find the registration link here: https://www.terralindaptc.org/about-the-ptc/what-we-do/oregon-battle-of-the-books/. If you registered your student already, you are good to go for all of the OBOB meetings.

Don't hesitate to contact Jenn Collett (jenn.collett@gmail.com) with any questions.

Option Schools Applications

Applications now open for 2024-2025 Option Schools. Applications for the 2024-2025 school year are now available online. Students must reside within the Beaverton School District boundary or currently attend a Beaverton School on an approved Inter-District Transfer in order to apply to an Option school.

Students may only select one Option school on their application. They should give careful consideration to their choice of school. Once an application has been submitted, no changes will be allowed. We strongly encourage online applications.

Applications must be received online or in the Learning Options office no later than Friday, December 8 at 3:00 p.m. PST.

Current 5th-7th grade students and families who are unfamiliar with the Options Application process are invited to attend an Option Fair. The Option Fair will include a presentation on the application process and the opportunity to visit tables hosted by each Option School.

Current 5th-11th grade students and families who are interested in specific Option Schools are encouraged to attend one or more Open Houses hosted at each Option School. Visit the Learning Options webpage for more information and applications, as well as a complete list of Option Fairs and Open Houses.
