FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Parents and Guardians
I hope you had a wonderful summer. I am so excited to see you as we kick off the 2026-2027 school year! It is an absolute honor to work with you and your children. This is my 14th year as the principal and every year is always filled with so much excitement, great growth, and our focus on a strong partnerships with each of you.
We know these early years are so foundational with your children learning how to read, learning the basic skills of how numbers work, but ultimately the foundation isn’t complete without a strong love of learning and strong sense of belonging. Our vision is simple at IPS, “We teach and value our children as if they are our own.” This is a day to day focus for all of us.
As you read this welcome back, you will also see a great new addition to our K-5 schools with hiring Assistant Principals. Michelle Glasgow is our new Assistant Principal at IPS. Michelle brings years of experience of leadership and instruction to our C-I schools and I am blessed to be able to work with her in this new role.
The information in this newsletter is our first step. Our goal is to have your child's teacher in Skyward Family Access so you can see it by the end of the day this Friday. Our Welcome Back Letter should arrive in your mailbox late next week. It will have important information for the 2026-2027 school year. Please call the office if you do not receive your letter.
Take care,
Shane Dordal
IPS Principal
MICHELLE GLASGOW - NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
I am excited to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal at Isanti Primary School! I have been part of Cambridge-Isanti Schools since 2011, and my journey with the district began right here at IPS. Over the years, I have served in several roles, including at Isanti Middle School, with the Cambridge-Isanti Online program, and in Curriculum at the Education Services Center. I am thrilled to be back “home” at IPS and look forward to building relationships with our students and families. Please feel free to say hello when you see me—I’m excited to get to know you and partner with you throughout the year!
OPEN HOUSE
Join us on Tuesday, September 1 anytime between 5:00 and 6:00 pm. Open House is a wonderful opportunity to explore the school together and get familiar with the building before the first day. Families are encouraged to find their child's new classroom and meet their teacher. If you have school supplies ready, please bring them along to drop off directly in the classroom. You can also turn in your activity fee.
We will have bus tags ready for you and your child as this is a huge help with ensuring your student is set for riding the bus. You will also receive your "Morning Drop off & After School Pick-up" information sheet with your child's specific QR code.
We look forward to seeing you then!
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
ARRIVAL: For students being dropped off at school, the car line is located at the north end of the building (in the back) from 7:15 to 7:25 AM. Once the buses arrive, the drop off line ends and parents need to park in the gravel parking lot to the northeast of the building. Our crossing guard crosses parents and students from 7:15 - 7:30 AM to enter the building. The back doors lock at 7:30 AM. After 7:30 AM, students need to be brought to the front office (Door 1) for check in.
DISMISSAL: At 2:05 PM, students who ride the bus will be dismissed and buses will leave by 2:10 PM. Parent pick up, at the north end of the building, begins immediately following the exit of the buses. We will once again be using the car line code system. Only Compass Learning and Little Sprouts daycare buses will be in the front of the building to pick up students who attend their childcare centers. Walkers who reside south of IPS are dismissed to the front. Walkers that live north of IPS are dismissed out the back.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE
Bus route information will be available in the new Skyward Family Access beginning the evening of August 31, accessible through both the app and desktop version. As we prepare for the start of school, our Transportation Team is planning for longer-than-usual route times where needed due to local road construction.
Once school begins, families can expect regular updates about significant route delays through text messages, our district website and the C-I Schools mobile app. Watch for a more complete transportation update from the district in the next two weeks with additional information to help your family prepare for the first day of school.
CALENDAR UPDATE
As we begin the new school year, we want to share an update about our school calendars. To ensure the digital information we provide on our website is accessible to all families and community members, our former printable, at-a-glance calendar is no longer posted on the district website.
Printed copies are still available at Back to School events, school main offices, and the Education Services Office. Families can also find the most current school and district dates in the Events section of our websites and in the C-I Schools mobile app. Each school website includes building-specific events, while district-wide dates such as non-school days and holidays are also included.
To find your school calendar, visit c-ischools.org, select Schools, and choose your child’s school. If you are unable to find an event or information you are looking for, please feel free to reach out. We are always happy to help.
