Join the Parent Advisory Committee!

Dr. Stewart would like to invite our GISD parents and guardians to join the 2024-2025 Parent Advisory Committee (P.A.C.). We recognize that parental involvement is one of the cornerstones of a thriving educational community. The P.A.C. provides a platform for parents like YOU to contribute to the shaping of the future of GISD. Your insights, perspectives, and ideas are invaluable as we navigate the exciting challenges and opportunities that come with a growing city and school district.

There are four meetings scheduled for the year: October 9, December 11, February 12, April 9. All meetings are held from 5:30 - 7pm. Each meeting will cover a variety of topics and will give you the opportunity to discuss important topics within GISD and public education.

HOSA students spent the day at Perot Museum learning and doing hands on activities. Their favorite site was Being Human Hall. There they were able to complete experiments in the lab such as separating DNA & identifying bacteria to utilize for probiotics for compounds with microscopes. Other favorites included walking on a prosthetic, analyzing heart rhythms, anatomy exhibits & viewing a real brain & spinal cord. Students also did a lab that looked at sound waves and learned how the ear works and measured decibel waves.

Give a Leopard High Five!

The Leopard High Five staff recognition program is officially open for the school year. The program is a way to recognize any Gainesville ISD employee who goes above and beyond. Nominations are accepted from any staff, parent, or community member and all GISD employees are eligible to be nominated.

Nominations should include a specific example of how this staff member has gone above and beyond for a student, a peer, or the community. Generic nominations will not be considered. The more information/detail the better! The nomination must align with one or more of our GISD core beliefs: Equity, Excellence, Diversity, Innovation, Partnership, Safe and Comfortable Environment.

Nominate any GISD staff member for a High Five https://bit.ly/LeopardHighFive
