Thank you!
Dear RMS Families,
As hard as it is to believe, this school year will come to a close on Monday, June 22. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our entire team of educators, kitchen staff, paraprofessionals, custodians, nurse, administrative assistants, counselors, school psychologist, lunch and recess monitors, substitutes, and adjunct service providers for their continued dedication to our students, school, and community.
The RMS staff show up each day committed to doing their best for every student, regardless of the challenges they may face. It is truly a pleasure to work alongside such a dedicated and caring team of professionals.
I would also like to thank our RMS families for their ongoing support and for sharing your wonderful children with us each day. Our students are the highlight of every day as we watch them learn, grow, build relationships, learn from their mistakes, develop independence, strengthen their academic skills, and gain confidence. We look forward to welcoming all of our students back in September, and we wish our current sixth-grade students much success as they move on to junior high school this fall.
Finally, we would be remiss if we did not recognize and thank our amazing PTO. This year's PTO was an entirely new team, yet they continued to make a positive impact on our school through assemblies, the snack cart, fundraisers, the Fun Run, and many other activities. We are incredibly grateful to the PTO Board and all of the volunteers who support our school and students. It truly takes teamwork to build and maintain a positive school environment.
Thank you all for a wonderful school year!
Thank you to Mr. West, for 20 plus years of service at RMS. He began as a school adjustment counselor before becoming the Assistant Principal. We are so happy for him to be promoted to Principal at Center School. His positive presence and kindness will be missed at Rochester Memorial School. The good news is, he will still be working in the tri-town and we wish him great success at his new school.
In closing, here are some friendly reminders:
- Monday, June 22nd is a half-day with dismissal beginning at 12:25 PM. If you didn't know, our school buses loop around the back of the school several times to say good-bye to our entire school faculty and staff who will be cheering and playing instruments. It is a great fun.
- The 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony begins at 9:30 AM and the back doors by the gym will be open for 9:00 AM.
- Students will not find out their teacher for next year until later this summer as we are waiting for additional state funding to be passed in late June early July.
- We also would like to wish Mrs. Kathy Harding and Mrs. Kim Amato a wonderful retirement. These two ladies will be greatly missed at RMS.
- Wednesday, September 2nd is the first day of school for students in grades 1-12.
- Keep an eye on the district and school web page over the summer for any updates.
- If you need to reach the school office, please email or call first before arriving as the secretaries do not work all year.
- Don't forget about Summer Reading: The information is towards the bottom of this newsletter
Thank you to everyone for another great school year. May your summer days be filled with laughter, family, friends and adventure.
With Respect & Gratitude,
Mrs. Letendre
Hoping Mr. West will Stick Around😊
6th Grade Carnival
Our 6th graders began their last week with a tour of the junior high school, and then Martha's Vineyard and on Wednesday, June 17th we had the Annual 6th Grade Carnival. Thank you to Mrs. Eilertsen and her entire volunteer team for a successful afternoon with the games, obstacle course, dunk tank, tug-a-war and so much more. It was an amazing day. Thank you to our firefighters for their support and our police officers for joining in on the fun. It was a great day!
