Mahalo Nui Loa Saint Damien ʻOhana!
What a wonderful Backyard Pāʻina! We are so grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate, connect, and support Saint Damien School!
Mahalo to our students, families, alumni, sponsors and faculty/staff for your incredible support - whether you attended, volunteered, donated, helped with a booth, brought your ʻohana, or simply shared the aloha. Your participation helps make events like this possible and strengthens the spirit of our school community.
A special mahalo to our parent volunteers, faculty, staff, students, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make the evening such a success. It truly takes our entire ʻohana! A huge shoutout to our Backyard Pāʻina organizers: Guy Lancaster, Dannan Smith and Anthony Tuitele!
We are blessed to have such a caring and committed community. Thank you for showing up for Damien and for one another. Enjoy Fall Break!

Behind the Scenes
Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes of a live DMTV broadcast? Mikayla and Michelle are part of the dedicated DMTV production crew who rotate between editing, audio and camera.
Serving Men in Transition
On Friday, Mr. Higaʻs English 12 class volunteered at the IHS Menʻs Shelter in ʻIwilei. Pierce, Karsyn, Kapaʻihi, and Braxten sorted through boxes of donated food items and passed out lunches. Mahalo to Campus Ministry for coordinating this opportunity.
Oct 11: 1st Mass as Saint Damien School
Honoring Saint Damien...
Over a century ago, a young priest gave everything he had, including his comfort, his health, and his very life, to walk beside the suffering and the forgotten on Molokaʻi. He didn't just serve his people, he became one of them. In 2009, the Church recognized what our community has always known: that kind of love is holy. Father Damien de Veuster became Saint Damien.
For decades, we have strived to carry that same spirit forward in our classrooms, our community, and the way we care for one another. Today, we are taking the next step in our journey of faith: Damien Memorial School is becoming Saint Damien School.
This isn't a rebrand. It is a homecoming, an act of faith, and an invitation to walk even closer in the footsteps of the man who shaped everything our school stands for.
To help explain this exciting milestone in our history, we are pleased to share a brief video with you. It is a deeply moving piece in which Lanson Kupau, Board Chair, alongside our students, speaks powerfully about what this name change means to them and to the future of our school.
Course Spotlight: App Creator & Coding
Kainalu and Travis share their student-designed apps in Mr. Genusʻ App Coding. Using the App Creator software, students learned how to code four different apps for use on their cell phones. Apps included Tic-Tac-Toe, Sounds of Hawaiʻi, Heads or Tails? and Catsʻ Meow.
