Mustang Memo
Summer 2025
August 18, 2025
Hello, Mustang Families!!!
We had a great first week! I want to extend a warm welcome to all our new families and a sincere welcome back to those returning. It was wonderful to see our students arrive with such excitement and energy, ready to connect/reconnect with friends and meet their new teachers. The first week is always about laying a strong foundation for the year ahead. Our teachers have done an incredible job of creating welcoming and engaging classrooms where students can feel safe to learn and grow. They've been busy establishing classroom routines, setting our R.U.N. expectations, introducing new topics, and getting to know your children as individuals. We introduces our theme for the year, which is "Be a H.E.R.O" (Help Everyone, Respect Others). We want students to see the ability they have to positively impact those around them, and it doesn't take superhero powers to be a hero to those around you! It’s been so rewarding to see our students already diving into the McNair culture as well as learning and embracing the challenges of a new grade level.
One area of feedback we received last year was a perception that parents are not welcome at the middle school, and we want you to know that is not the case! That is why we decided to have our Pod Parties withing the first few weeks back so that we can welcome families into the school, let you meet all of your child's pod teachers, and see the other students and families who are in your pod. We had our first one on Friday, and it was a hot one! Thank you PTO for the ice cream -- it was much needed! We had to end the part a little early due to the heat, but it was still a great opportunity to have fun and get to know each other in a relaxed setting. We will wrap up our other Pod Parties this week, and please be advised that we will be watching the weather and making adjustments as necessary.
Our goal this year is to continue to foster a positive and collaborative learning environment for every student. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is key to your child's success, and we look forward to working with you throughout the year. Thank you for your trust and for sharing your children with us. We are so excited about the year ahead and all the amazing things we will accomplish together.
Love, the Mustangs
Girls on the Run
PTO
Please visit the McNair PTO site for upcoming PTO events and a link to order merchandise. All parents/guardians are automatically members, so there is no cost to join!
The PTO has also created a GroupMe for each pod to help you keep all of your pod's information in one place! Don't forget to join!
Crosswalks
We need your help! Our Crossing Guard on Mission has asked us to remind parents not to stop ON the crosswalk, as this leads to students walking in places other than the crosswalk, making them less safe. Also, please be aware that after you drop your child off, other children are still walking to school and need to do so safely. Thank you!
