CogAT Testing for Third and Fifth Grade Students

Dear Third and Fifth Grade Parents and Guardians,

We want to inform you that your child will be participating in Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) testing during the following dates:

Testing Dates: Wednesday, November 12th through Friday, November 14th

Make-up Testing: The week of November 17th

About the Test

The CogAT is a digital test that consists of three sections measuring different reasoning abilities:

  • Verbal reasoning

  • Quantitative reasoning

  • Nonverbal reasoning

The test is composed of nine 10-minute sections for a total of 90 minutes of testing time. These sections will be administered in a manner that is comfortable and appropriate for your child.

Purpose of the CogAT

The Cognitive Abilities Test measures reasoning abilities that facilitate learning and problem-solving. The information gathered from CogAT scores may be used to:

  • Adapt instruction and programs to meet the individual needs and abilities of students

  • Provide insight into a student's readiness for advanced academic programming, such as the Academically Talented program

If you have any questions about the CogAT testing, please don't hesitate to contact the school office.

Thank you for your continued support of your child's education.

Sincerely,

Principal Gina Shaw

Davis Gratitude Tree

The student council is creating a Gratitude Tree during the month of November. Student council members stopped by classrooms to share information about the Tree and drop off leaves. Then they decorated the Tree with the leaves of Gratitude that were completed by students & staff. This is one of many ways that our school is nurturing Thankfulness this month!

Davis families,

Illinois state law requires that all children entering kindergarten, second grade, and sixth grade will have an oral health examination. A licensed dentist must perform the dental exam and he/she shall sign and date the report form. Dental offices usually have the form, but the dental exam form can be obtained by clicking here or by visiting d303.org website under forms, then Health Services. This exam must be within 18 months of May 15, 2026.

In an effort to assist you in completing this oral health exam for your child, the Mobile Dentist will be on site at Davis on Monday, Feb. 2nd provided we have enough students for the Mobile Dentist to come. Please consider taking this opportunity of in school care at little to no cost to you. The Mobile Dentist accepts Medicaid and private insurance. Self pay by cash or check for $70 is also available for those without insurance coverage. Services provided are cleaning, screening, sealants, and fluoride. Forms will be sent home prior to Thanksgiving break and are available in the health office or you can click below to download a copy. Please return the form ASAP so the date can be reserved with the number of students enrolled. Sign up can also be completed online by clicking here, My School Dentist

If you have any questions, please contact your school’s health office:
