North Olmsted City Schools

Food Service 2024-2025 School Year
North Olmsted Families,
We are pleased to inform you that North Olmsted City Schools has qualified for and will be participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program for the 2024-2025 school year. This means that all North Olmsted students (K-12) are eligible to receive a free breakfast and lunch at school for each day of the 2024-2025 school year.
The free meals will not apply to a la carte items (second entrees, smoothies, ice cream, sodas, juices, water etc.) and snacks (chips, cookies, crackers etc.). These items will still need to be purchased.
In order to receive the free breakfast or lunch, students need to take the entire meal which includes ½ cup fruit or vegetable. The CEP program does not provide free milk to those who pack their meals.
Families do not need to do anything to receive these free meals. Your student will be able to participate in the CEP program without having to pay a fee or submit an application. This is a year to year program and district participation for future years will be determined at the end of this school year based on relevant district data.
If you have any questions please contact our Food Service Department using the information below.

Do I still need to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application?
Families are not required to complete the free and reduced meal application. The CEP program will provide free meals (breakfast and lunch) to all students K-12 without the need to complete an application.
What if I already had money on my student’s PaySchool account for meals?
That money can be used on a la carte items, or extra entrees. The money can also remain on the student’s account for future use. Families can also request a refund of that money through the Food Service Department.
My student still owes money from last year? Am I responsible for paying that now that all meals are free?
What qualifies as a free meal?
A student must choose at least three of the five offered components. The five components are meat/meat alternative, grain, vegetable, fruit, milk. One component must be the fruit or vegetable. See the following examples.
Example 1: Pepperoni pizza (grain, meat), apple (fruit). This qualifies as a free meal! It includes at least three components and one of them is a fruit.
Example 2: Pepperoni pizza (grain, meat), carton of milk (milk): This does not qualify as a free meal because there is no fruit or vegetable component.
My student packs their lunch. Can they get a free milk?
No. The CEP program only provides free meals to students. Milk by itself does not qualify as a free meal.
If my student is hungry can they receive a second free meal?
No. Students can only receive one free lunch and breakfast per day.
Will my student still enter their PIN when they go through the line?
Students at the middle school and high school will still enter their PIN when they go through the line. Students at Pine will need to enter their PIN only when they are purchasing a la carte items or snacks. Students in grades K-3 will not enter their PIN when they go through the line.
