JANUARY'22 UPDATES
A Newsletter Publication by Children's Wishing Well
Happy New Year 2022!
Wishing all our supporters and well-wishers a blessed new year! 2022 is a special year for us at Children's Wishing Well as we celebrate 20 years of serving the community.
The staff started off the year preparing the schedules and programmes for the upcoming intake of students. Some behind the scenes planning has also been ongoing for exciting anniversary special events which we look forward to announcing in due time.
Meanwhile, the children continue to come by our centre in the afternoons for their freshly prepared lunches. The cooks employed are mothers of our beneficiaries so it smells and tastes just like a mother's home-cooked meal.
Children who are under our Reach For The Stars Programme, began their new year pursuing their interests in various skills such as dancing, visual arts, swimming and so on. It is heartening seeing them progress with each year.
In the spirit of celebrating their talent, we are celebrating every festival this year with hand-drawn cards by our beneficiaries (seen below). Do keep a look out for these beautiful cards throughout the year!
For supporters whom had recurring donations with us over at giving.sg, we have created new pages for your pledges for 2022. Head on over to giving.sg to commit your pledge for the new year. And if you have never done so but are looking to support a cause this year, we welcome you to check out our page as well: https://www.giving.sg/childrens-wishing-well
New Year, New Me!
Just in time for the New Year, J and other children managed to get a new pair of spectacles under our Grant-A-Wish programme. J can now see better and clearer! More importantly, it takes the extra worry and cost off his mother.
Sometimes the seemingly small things, can make a world of a difference!
To Another Year Of Opportunities
Last December, The Learning Lab (TLL) Merit Bursary award ceremony was held at our Clementi centre to award 7 hardworking and deserving students.
These 7 students will all be taking the National PSLE Examination in 2022 and under this bursary, they will receive a place in a TLL Primary 6 programme at one of the 8 TLL centres.
A huge thank you to The Learning Lab! This is the second year we have been able to partner TLL for the provision of bursaries. After the first year in 2021, we are very excited to be able to offer more children the opportunity once again for 2022.
We believe that with this amazing opportunity, the children can have a more equal chance at success for their PSLE and later on in life. We look forward to continuing this partnership in the upcoming years!
Call For Volunteers!
That's right! We are looking for volunteers to support our children with 1 to 1 tuition for the upcoming academic year. As this is a long term commitment, we ask that interested individuals ensure you have the capacity to commit to teach 1.5 hours per week until the end of the school year. Head on over to our giving.sg page to find out more and register there under " Our Volunteers": https://www.giving.sg/childrens-wishing-well
To support our events and plans for the year, we are also looking for volunteers skilled in designing, videography, video editing and so on. If you have what it takes, write in to us at info@wishingwell.org.sg to join us and contribute.
