Overlook's Bi-Weekly Update - March 27, 2026
🦅 From the Principal’s Perch
Spring is in full swing at our school! Spring sports have officially begun, with tryouts took place this week. Our softball, baseball, and lacrosse teams are gearing up for the season, and our track and field team has already headed outdoors for their first practices. We’re excited to see our student-athletes in action and wish them a great season ahead.
We’re also thrilled to share that Mrs. Bailey has kicked off a new round of Play Club and is already hoping for some warmer weather so students can enjoy time outside together. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to connect, collaborate, and have fun.
This week, students also participated in the MCAS ELA assessment. We could not be more proud of the effort, focus, and stamina they demonstrated throughout the testing sessions. Their commitment to doing their best truly stood out.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our school community!

π 🥧Happy Pi Day!
We celebrated Pi Day with an impressive display of memory and math skills! Congratulations to our top students who memorized the most digits of pi:
- Emily Viola – 135 digits
- Hazel Morrison – 133 digits
- Gwyn Sears – 121 digits
These students remembered over 100 digits—what an incredible achievement!
🎨OMS Eagle Artist of the Month
We are proud to recognize Sawyer Heinze as our Eagle Artist of the Month for March for her outstanding Sketchbook drawings. Her creativity, attention to detail, and dedication to her art truly stand out. Great job, Sawyer!
🌟New! OMS Student Inclusion Club
We’re excited to introduce a new club — the Inclusion Club (for now!).
Students will have the opportunity to help choose a name that best reflects the group’s mission and vision. Our mission is to ensure every student feels seen, heard, and valued. We believe our school is strongest when we celebrate the unique “mosaic” of backgrounds, abilities, and experiences that make up our community.
The Inclusion Club brings students together to promote empathy, kindness, and belonging. Members will lead awareness activities and help make Overlook a welcoming place for everyone.
Our first meeting will be Monday, April 6 from 2:00–3:00 PM in the library.
All students are not only welcome, but encouraged to join!
If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Shattuck.

Art Draws Us Together
Students in Ms. Bennett’s Art Class recently participated in the Art Draws Us Together Ice Breaker as part of our “OMS Classroom Practices – Building Empathy, Respect, and Inclusion” initiative. This fun, hands-on activity gave students a chance to connect, express themselves creatively, and practice empathy and respect within our school community.
