📒From the Principal📒

Dear Students, Families, and Staff,

I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you as we embark on another exciting school year. My name is David McCall, and I am honored to be your principal.

For the past 18 years, I have had the privilege of being part of this remarkable profession, serving in various roles including third, fourth, and fifth-grade teacher, Assistant Principal, and for the past eight years, as your Principal at Chatfield. Each of these roles has given me a deep appreciation for the educational journey and the incredible student growth that can happen within a school community.

My passion for education is deeply rooted in my belief that every student has the potential to excel when they are supported by high expectations and a nurturing environment. I am committed to ensuring that all our learners feel included, respected, and valued—because I believe that a supportive community is key to unlocking each student’s full potential.

Outside of school, I cherish time spent with my family, and I find relaxation and joy in fly-fishing and rafting the Gunnison and Colorado Rivers. These personal passions remind me of the importance of balance and connection, qualities I strive to bring into our school environment. Just as in fly-fishing, where patience and persistence lead to success, I am dedicated to supporting our students through their educational journey with patience and unwavering support.

As we dive into this new school year, I am excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to working together to make this year one of growth, achievement, and positive experiences for everyone. I am here to support you and am eager to see the incredible things we will accomplish together.

Thank you for being a part of our school community. Here’s to a fantastic year!

Respectfully,

David McCall
Principal

📘From the Assistant Principal📘

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2024 – 2025 school year! I am honored to have the opportunity to help lead a school with an extremely dedicated staff, amazing students, and a supportive school community. I look forward to another year of growing and improving the work we do together, to ensure Chatfield is a place students look forward to coming each day.

I am moving into my 28th year in education. During this time I opened and operated a preschool, taught kindergarten, first, and third grades. Upon leaving the classroom, I was an instructional coach for seven years. This will be my seventh year with the Chatfield community; five years as the instructional and data coach, and this will be my second year as the assistant principal.

My years in education have been incredibly rewarding. Everyday spent in a school is an opportunity to learn and grow. I have always found great joy in working with families and students to ensure optimal social, emotional and academic learning experiences for every student. I believe that families are the most influential teachers a child has, and through partnering with the school system, teachers and families can make a profound impact on a student's future.

Outside of the school setting, my husband and I enjoy spending time outdoors; especially in the mountains hiking, fishing, camping, and simply relaxing. We treasure spending time doing anything with family.

As we prepare for the 2024-25 school year, I would like to welcome back all or our returning families and extend a special welcome to all of our new families. We are excited to share with you all that Chatfield has to offer. We believe in the power of our community and look forward to what this year has in store for everyone.

Sincerely,

Stacey Cummins

Counselor Corner

Hello families!

My name is Megan Warkoski, and I am Chatfield Elementary’s new School Counselor! I am so

excited to start meeting you and your families.

I grew up in the Denver area, and I moved to Grand Junction five years ago when I started

studying at Colorado Mesa University. I graduated with my Bachelors of Arts in Counseling

Psychology in Spring 2023. I am currently in my School Counseling Masters of Arts program,

online through Adams State University. I had a School Counseling internship in Fall 2022 at

Mesa View Elementary, which I greatly enjoyed! In my free time, I enjoy reading, finding a new

recipe to cook, and paddleboarding.

For the first few weeks of school, I will be introducing myself to students and visiting classrooms

to give an introduction/refresher on the role of the School Counselor. The first couple weeks of

school can be a lot for students, and they will probably be feeling a lot of emotions. Encouraging

them to talk about their emotions and how school is going is an important way to support them.

If there are any additional ways that I can support your students as they transition back to the

classroom, please let me know.

If you have any questions regarding classroom lessons, upcoming small groups, or other

concerns, feel free to reach out via email or phone call.

I am looking forward to an amazing ‘24-‘25 school year!

Sincerely,

Megan Warkoski
