Happy Friday! We survived the week of extreme heat!

Today, author, J Scott Savage, visited our school to talk with 3rd-5th grade students about the skills involved in writing a book! He discussed generating ideas, character development, and plot! It was a very cool experience for our students.

Tonight Southport High School Cardinals take on the Perry Falcons in football! We hope to see some future Cardinals there!

Dear Perry Township Schools Parents,

Perry Township Schools (PTS) remains committed to the academic, social and emotional growth of all of our students. We are happy to announce that we will be utilizing a survey through Panorama Education to capture student voice and allow students to express their perspectives about self management, social awareness and their well-being.

The survey results will help PTS teachers, administrators and counselors gauge student growth and understanding around social and emotional competencies, which contribute to academic success and increase engagement in the classroom.

Our students in grades K-2 will be answering the Panorama survey with the help of a classroom teacher, and our students in grades 3-8 will answer questions on their own. All survey responses will take place at school. The survey will take about 20 minutes of their classroom time and provide our district with valuable information that will help us better meet the needs of our students.

We anticipate that we will begin survey administration on September 11. We will likely have all surveys completed by September 15, 2023. If a parent or guardian chooses to not have their child participate in the anonymous survey, they must contact their school office by September 1st. Next week, the SES PTA will be having a membership drive!

The PTA does so much for our school! They sponsor skating parties, support our service dog, Mosley, and host other family events! Please consider joining PTA! Forms should be coming home today.

The class that has the most members joining at the end of next week will win a popsicle party!

We'd like to congratulate our exemplary students for their efforts in this reading challenge. We encourage all of our students to join in the fun, read more and challenge themselves.

Can you spell success? The spell bowl had its first meeting this week, and we look forward to seeing their progress in competition. We'd also like to give a special mention to Miss Nadler and Miss Dawes for sponsoring the club.

This week's artist of the week is third grader Ngun Sui from room 37. She made a dinosaur cut out.

Keep in mind - Out of Uniform Days include the expectation that students still need to wear dresses or shirts with sleeves and have pants or skirts of an appropriate length! You may take a break from solid colors, collars, and khaki, black, or navy pants on these days:)
