Last Day of Teacher Appreciation Week
What an incredible week it has been! We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our students and parents for the overwhelming kindness, treats, and thoughtful notes you’ve shared. You have truly made the staff at DuJardin feel like the superstars they are!
As we head into tomorrow, we have one final (and optional) way to celebrate:
Flower Friday: If your student would like to participate, they are welcome to bring in a flower (or a bouquet!) to give to their teacher or any favorite staff member in the building.
Thank you for helping us end the week on such a beautiful note!
AR Points Deadline for Field Trip (TOMORROW)
Tomorrow is the last day to earn AR points for an invitation to the end of year field trip. Students in first - third grade must earn 50 points and students in fourth and fifth grade must earn 100 points by tomorrow to get an invite to the field trip. Check out the AR Field Trip flyer located before for more information.
Field Day (NEXT THURSDAY)
Get ready, Jaguars! Field Day is a week away on Thursday, May 14th. Why a Thursday? Because there is no school on Friday, May 15th.
To ensure a safe, secure, and organized environment for all our students, we have a few important reminders for families regarding attendance:
Volunteer-Only Participation: For safety and security reasons, we ask that any parents wishing to join us for the festivities register as an official volunteer for the event.
No Spectators, Please: We kindly ask that parents do not come to the school as spectators. Our goal is to keep the fields clear and secure so that students and staff can focus on the activities and movement.

2026-2027 School Calendar Updated
The 2026-2027 school calendar was amended during the most recent Bloomingdale School Board Meeting.
The change involves the Early Release schedule. The district will transition from monthly Early Release days to weekly Early Release days.
The New Schedule:
Weekly Release: Students will be released at 3:00 PM every Wednesday.
Previous Schedule: This replaces the former schedule of a 1:40 PM dismissal once per month.
Click here to access the new 2026-2027 updated calendar.
Registration for 2026-2027
Kindergarten Eligibility Children who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2026, are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the upcoming school year.
New vs. Returning Student Portals To streamline the process, we have two distinct registration pathways:
New Student Portal: For families brand new to District 13.
Returning Student Portal: For any student currently enrolled in D13 during the 2025-2026 school year.
Important Note for Transitioning Students If your child currently attends a D13 school, they are considered a returning student. You should use the Returning Student Portal even if your child is moving from one building to another (for example, moving from DuJardin Elementary to Westfield Middle School OR moving from Preschool at Erickson to Kindergarten at Erickson or DuJardin).

Trump Accounts give the next generation a jump start on saving
The Working Families Tax Cuts allows parents, guardians and other authorized individuals to establish a new type of individual retirement account for their children, called Trump Accounts. The account is for a child who has not turned age 18 before the end of the calendar year in which the election is made and has a valid Social Security number.
The account features a pilot program contribution of $1,000 for children born between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2028, and who are U.S. citizens with a valid Social Security number.

Student Needs:
Please inform the nurse of any allergies or sensitivities to foods, medications, and environmental allergens. If there are any pertinent details of your students' health that you feel the nurse needs to know, please reach out and discuss this with the school nurse. This information can be helpful to better support your student throughout the day, if certain situations arise.
About Your Student’s Medication:
The district's medication administration policy mandates that all medication to be administered at school requires an MD order, this includes over-the-counter medications. Students may NOT keep over-the-counter meds in their backpacks or in their lockers--including cough drops, Advil, etc. This is an important safety concern! Please review the policy included in the registration process.
If your student requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or any oral medication, please obtain the medication form and appropriate health care plan from your physician when your child has their exam. Forms may also be obtained on the district website.
Excused Physical Education Class:
Please note that all PE excuses need to be sent to the Nurse's Office. A parent may excuse a student from PE for up to 3 days. (consecutively) Thereafter, a Doctor's note is required.
Calls home from the Nurse:
Phone calls home are warranted in the event of a head injury, minor or major
All in school sickness including fever of 100.4 (oral) or greater, vomiting and/or diarrhea
Please prepare to keep your child home until:
Fever-free for a full 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.

Please refer to the General Health Guidelines which can be found on the district website

AR Reading Program
The Accelerated Reader (AR) program at DuJardin: Students in first-fifth grade can take AR tests on the books they read.
As students earn points, they can get rewards, including bookmarks, brag tags, and a chance to attend our special AR Night Out in January and the big End of Year Field Trip in May!
Mr. Pearlman will be going over the AR program during library with our First and Second grade students this coming week. Most books we have in the library are AR books and students can read the book and take a quiz to earn points. So, find a great book, get reading, and let's get those points!
Click here for more information about the AR program at DuJardin.
Please note: this is an optional reading incentive program.
