Updates for the New School Year!
August 21st, 2026
As we are on the countdown to a new school year, we are delighted to welcome all our pupils back to Dangan NS. We are really looking forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting our new pupils and sharing in all the excitement that the beginning of a new school year brings!
Updates
- The repair works on the flat roof at the front of the school are nearing completion, and the new walkway around the back pitch has also been completed. We have also replaced all outdated classroom furniture, meaning that all pupils will now have Performa range chairs and new tables where required.
- While we are still awaiting an upgrade to the school’s electricity supply, The Lunch Bag has agreed to provide a hot-drop service until the necessary works are completed. Hot meals will begin in the coming weeks, and I will let you know as soon as we receive a confirmed start date. Update: Cold lunches will be provided until hot meal options begin.
- We are delighted that Caitlin Smyth and Lucy Walsh will be returning to work with us for the coming school year. Both teachers are already very familiar with our school, pupils and staff.
Farewell & Best Wishes to Sharon
I would like to let you know that Sharon, our school secretary, is moving on to a new position and will no longer be working with us. We thank Sharon for all her work during her time at Dangan NS and wish her every success in her new role. We will update parents once a new school secretary has been appointed.

School Communication
As we begin the new school year, I would like to remind everyone of our school communication procedures.
All parent communication should be sent to our dedicated school email address: office@dangannationalschool.ie. The school phone will be monitored between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. each school day.
Emails received by the school office will be passed on to the relevant staff member. Teachers will respond as soon as practicable but will not reply during teaching time, in the evenings or at weekends. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in respecting these boundaries.
We ask that all communication with the school is respectful in tone. Staff will not respond to emails that are threatening or abusive, and such correspondence will be referred to the Board of Management.
When contacting the school about a sensitive matter, parents should discuss only matters relating to their own child and must not name or discuss children from other families. Any correspondence that does so will also be referred to the Board of Management.
If your child is being collected early, the school must be informed in advance through the Attendance Notes section of the Aladdin app by selecting “My child will be collected early.” An explanation for any absence should also be submitted through Aladdin.
If you wish to arrange an appointment with your child’s teacher, please email the school office or send a note in your child’s homework journal.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
School Calendar Updates
Please find attached the updated school calendar for the 2026/27 school year.
Following recent Department communication, there will be three additional school closure days for whole-staff professional development. the Department have not notified us yet of the dates for our additional closure days .
School Fees
The payment for School Requisites for the 2026/27 school year are now due. Many thanks to those who have already made their payment – it is very much appreciated. Payment can be made via the Aladdin app.
Parking
In the interest of being able to maximise the amount of collection points in the school for drop off and collection, we would kindly ask that you minimise large gaps when parking in front of or behind other cars as we have limited space available for collection and drop off.
Also, please be mindful of where you are parking when dropping and collecting your child, please do not park up on our neighbours grass or in front of their entrance gates.
Aladdin
If you have any issues logging in or regsitering with the Aladdin app, please contact the office - office@dangannationalschool.ie

Allergies
If your child has an allergy or medical condition that you feel the school should be made aware of, please get in contact with us, if you have not done so already.
Birthday Treats
Birthday Treats
If your child is celebrating their birthday and would like to bring in treats for their classmates, please note that these treats will be sent home with each child at the end of the day. Treats from pupils will not be opened in school, this is so that parents can decide if the treats being provided are suitable for their child to eat. Please do not feel obliged to send in treats for the class when it is your child’s birthday!
