Principal's Message
Dear Neubert Families,
This Wednesday, December 10th, is a Late Start Day for all D300 schools. School will be in session from 10:00 AM-2:15 PM.
Please continue to send your child(ren) to school in full winter gear (coat, gloves, hat/ear warmers, scarf, boots, and snow pants when appropriate). Outdoor recess will continue as long as conditions allow, and proper gear helps keep our Knights warm and safe. If your family is in need of winter clothing or support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the front office - we are here to help.
Thank you for ensuring a smooth and warm winter week! ❄️💙
Your Partner in Education,
Ms. Nicole Bryan, Principal
Neubert Elementary School
Neubert Staff Shoutouts
At Neubert, we are so lucky to have such a dedicated and caring staff! We invite you to take a moment to recognize a staff member who has made a difference for your child(ren) or family. Your personal messages will be sent directly to the receiving staff member. Your kind words mean so much and help us celebrate the amazing work happening every day!
Winter Workshop
We are so excited for our annual Winter Workshop on Wednesday, December 10, where students will have the opportunity to shop for small gifts for family members and loved ones. This special event brings so much joy to our Knights, and we can’t wait to share the experience with them!
What Families Need to Know
Shopping Schedule
- Students will visit the Winter Workshop in 30-minute increments throughout the day.
- Most of our special education classes will be shopping 1:1 with staff.
Support for Our Youngest Shoppers
- Kindergarten and 1st grade students will receive extra support from our 4th and 5th grade “big kid helpers,” who will assist them in selecting and shopping for gifts.
Wishlists & Envelopes
- Our PTO President is preparing student gift envelopes and wish lists, which will be sent home. These will help families plan ahead with their child.
Student Belonging Survey
Our Student Belonging Survey window opened on Monday, December 1st and will close on Friday, December 12th.
Students in grades 3-5 will participate in an assessment to allow school leaders to gauge students’ sense of belonging at school. This is part of D300’s continuing effort to improve our understanding of our students' needs. Although our school values the voices and perspectives of our pre-K through 2nd-grade students, we do not feel that the reading level of the assessment suits the average literacy of our youngest students.
We recommend K-2 students work with their families (parents and guardians) to provide feedback through the 5 Essentials Survey when it is available. Unfortunately, the 5 Essentials places similar restrictions on K-2 student participation due to reading levels. However, since the 5 Essentials can be completed from home, students and families can discuss their experiences and complete the survey together.
i-Ready Assessments
Our i-Ready assessment window opened on Monday, December 1st and will close on Friday, December 12th. Students will take the i-Ready assessment in both reading and math.
Please see the information below for helpful tips and details about i-Ready testing. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out — we’re happy to help! If you are looking for specific dates your student will be taking their assessments, please reach out directly to their teacher. Thank you for your continued support in helping our students show what they know and reach their full potential.
What i-Ready Is and How It Works
Adaptive Assessment — i‑Ready adjusts question difficulty based on your student’s responses: correct answers lead to tougher questions, incorrect ones to easier ones. This helps pinpoint the right learning level—not to assign a “grade” but to personalize instruction.
💡 Tips to Help Your Child Do Their Best on the i-Ready Assessment
Get a good night’s sleep the night before testing so your child is well-rested and alert.
Eat a healthy breakfast to fuel focus and concentration.
Talk about the purpose — explain that i-Ready helps teachers know what they’ve learned and what they still need to work on.
Encourage a “try your best” mindset — it’s okay if they don’t know every answer; thoughtful effort matters most.
Remind them to take their time and read questions carefully.
Offer encouragement before and after the test — celebrate their hard work, not just their score.
Outdoor Recess Rules
Students need to dress appropriately for winter:
Winter coat
Snow pants
Winter boots
Gloves
Hat, ear band, earmuffs, etc.
Hoods do count, but should be tightened if possible
Students must have all of the above winter clothing items to go on the playground or grassy areas when there is snow.
Students may build with snow (e.g., snowmen, forts).
Students may not climb or play on the plowed mounds of snow.
Students should not throw or kick snow at people, buildings, or equipment.
All winter gear must stay on (coats, gloves, hats, etc.) until students reach their coat hook inside. Students should not remove gloves, hats, or other winter items while walking inside.

Lost and Found
Updated 12/5/25
Our Lost and Found is bursting with lonely jackets, hats, sweatshirts, scarves and gloves that are hoping to find their way back home! Please take a look at the pictures we’ve shared to see if any of these items belong to your child. To help our “lost treasures” get back to their owners even faster, we’d love for you to add your child’s name inside their belongings. That way, we can return them right away before they end up on another adventure in the Lost and Found!
NOTE: Any items left on December 19th will be donated.

Quick tech tip: If you're viewing a QR code on your phone, you don’t need a second device to scan it. Just take a screenshot or save the photo to your photo library, open the picture in your photo library, and long-press on the QR code - your phone will recognize it and pop up the link automatically. Super handy!
