Hello Families!
Our first spirit day was fun and filled with so many creative ideas. Our students' hats and sunglasses were definitely crazy and creative! We have another spirit day tomorrow, Monday, October 5, 2026. Monday is Fire Prevention Day. Staff and students are encouraged to wear red. A local fire department and emergency responders will be at CEEP on Thursday for a special presentation for our students. In honor of Fire Prevention Month, newsletters will include a family safety tip for you to engage in at home. We will also practice our October fire drill this week.
I’m also excited to remind everyone that the Fall Festival at William Penn High School will be held this Saturday, and we hope to see many of our little Colonials and their families there! Don’t forget that Thursday is a Spirit Day, students can sport cherry red and black to celebrate William Penn’s Homecoming weekend. Let’s show our school spirit!
Special thank you to families who were able to attend Open House on Thursday evening. Our teachers were so grateful to have families come to school to hear about what the students will be learning about this school year. We value your partnership with our school.
🚫School Closed on Friday
There is no school for students on Friday, October 9, 2026, due to Staff Development Day.
We are looking forward to another great week ahead. I wish you well!

🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness 🎀
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an international campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure.
Here is a news article on how to discuss breast cancer with your loved ones.

✋Volunteers✋
Would you like to volunteer at CEEP? Parents will need to apply via the Colonial School District website. It takes up to 10 days for it to be approved.
https://www.colonialschooldistrict.org/parents-students/volunteer/
Once it is approved, you will show up on our school's volunteer list. You should apply for all of the schools because the approval list lasts for 3 years. When your child(ren) moves up or to another school, you will show up on the “new schools” list because you have applied for all of the schools. If you do not, you will not show up on the new school list and will have to sign up again to become a volunteer.
🔥 Fire Safety Awareness Month🔥
This week, our local fire department will be visiting the school to help students learn about fire safety. This is a great opportunity for families to talk about safety at home, too!
Family Safety Tip:
For young children and children with disabilities, practicing what to do in case of a fire is especially important. Here is something to try and consider, create a simple, step-by-step fire drill at home that matches your child’s needs. Use visual supports, picture cards, or a social story to show what to do (for example: “1. Get up, 2. Walk to the door, 3. Go outside”). Practicing calmly and often can help your child feel more confident and safe if an emergency ever happens.
👉 Try this week: Practice finding two safe exits in your home together with your child.
🤒 Student Absences 🤒
If your child is absent, please make sure you complete the attendance form on the day of the student's absence. You can find this link on the weekly family newsletter.
