Message from the Principal Message from the Principal

Good Afternoon Chloe Clark Families,

As we approach the spring semester, we would like to inform you about the upcoming Smarter Balanced Assessments for Math and English Language Arts for our 3rd-grade students. These assessments are an important part of tracking your child's academic progress and ensuring we continue to meet their educational needs.

The Smarter Balanced Assessments provide valuable insight into your child’s strengths and areas for growth. These assessments will be administered during the spring term, and we encourage all students to approach them with confidence. Please rest assured that our teachers and staff are working diligently to prepare students for success and will support them throughout the process.

Here are a few key details:

  • SBA ELA (English Language Arts): April 29th & May 1st
  • SBA Math: May 13th & May 15th
  • What to Expect: The tests will assess skills in math and English Language Arts based on what students have learned throughout the year. The format includes both multiple-choice and written responses.
  • Attendance is Critical: Please plan ahead to ensure your child is present for testing. Absences during these dates can impact your child's ability to participate and complete the tests. We ask that you avoid scheduling appointments or other activities that could interfere with testing.
  • Testing is Required: Participation in state testing is mandatory for all students. If, for any reason , you wish to opt your child out of the testing, we require a meeting with an administrator prior to April 4th. Please note that opt out requests will not be accepted without a prior meeting, and no opt outs will be granted after the cut-off date.
  • How to Prepare: Encourage your child to get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and bring their best effort to the test. There is no need for special preparation outside of regular class activities, but a positive mindset will help ensure a smooth testing experience.

We understand that assessments can sometimes be stressful, and we will make every effort to provide a supportive environment. We appreciate your support as well. If you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming assessments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Warmly,
Principal Duncan

Important Reminders Important Reminders

  • NO SCHOOL for students this Friday, March 14th, due to our staff professional development day.
  • When making a change to your child's end of day dismissal, we need one hour notice before days end.
  • Please DO NOT PARK in the drive-through area at the front of the building at any time during the school day, especially during drop-off and pick-up. It is crucial that we keep the drive clear for emergency purposes. Students enter the building at 9:03 AM and are released at 3:35 PM. Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten students are released a few minutes earlier. Thank you!
