UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
PSAT: The Practice SAT test will be held on October 26th. Space is limited and restricted to Sophomores and Juniors only. The test will be $25.00, which can be paid at the LHHS Bookstore. Last day to sign up for the PSAT will be September 30th. Please reach out to Mrs. Darnell if you have any questions on how to sign up. sdarnell@lhusd.org
Small Groups: The LHHS Counselors aim to provide small groups of around 10 students per group throughout the school year, covering topics our students have shown an interest in receiving more support on. We base this off of polling our students to allow them the opportunity to voice what small group topics could benefit them. Small groups are optional, but can be a very helpful tool for students. This year, our Freshman students expressed an overwhelming interest in a Freshman Success Group, providing them with supportive tools such as study skills and more to help prepare them for a successful four years of high school. Our first small groups will begin in October. If you would like additional information, or would like to sign your student up for the Freshman Success small group, please reach out to your student’s assigned School Counselor.
PAYING FOR POST SECONDARY INSTITUTION
Seniors (and their parents) will want to complete the FAFSA: Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Our goal is to assist those students/parents in the completion of the application and will offer time in the seniors’ school day to address this.
FAFSA lesson (seniors): FAFSA lessons will be held during the Winter season once the 2025-2026 FAFSA application is open. As of current, FAFSA has announced another delay this year to open in December instead of October. We will also offer a Parent FAFSA Workshop in the evening in December to assist in the completion of FAFSA. More details to follow.
BE INVOLVED
Parents are encouraged to have a conversation with their children about high school, future plans, ECAP lessons, and Major Clarity. Future planning is critical to ensure that students meet graduation requirements, have knowledge about programs of study and are able to pursue their post-secondary goals. Your involvement is extremely important!
HOW IS MY CHILD DOING ACADEMICALLY?
SYNERGY: Students and parents should log into StudentVue/ParentVue on a regular basis. If you need assistance, contact or visit the Main Office.
