Message from AP/AD - Mr. DePaula Message from AP/AD - Mr. DePaula

Dear Panthers,

We are fortunate to live in such a wonderful place. Nederland is a beautiful community with the great outdoors right in our backyard. Living here fosters a deep appreciation for nature and our surroundings.

Last week, our 6th grade students attended High Trails Outdoor Education Center. Many shared how much they enjoyed the experience, and some even mentioned they hope to return one day as high school camp counselors. Thank you Ms. Kinczel, Ms. Lauerman, Mr. Mitrano, and Mr. Epke for making this trip possible.

It's inspiring to see how experiences like this help build connections across grade levels. When our high school students engage with younger peers, it strengthens our school community.

We’re committed to continuing these opportunities that connect our students with one another, and with the wonderful environment we’re lucky to call home.

Wishing everyone a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Mr. DePaula

Being a Trusted Adult in Hard Times

With everything that has happened this week and continuously in our country, students may come home with many emotions surrounding what they see on the news, social media, and hear from other sources. I am attaching a flyer about being a Trusted Adult in Hard Times - it has some great steps and tips about how to regulate our own emotions so that we can be here for our kids.

Youth Exploring Stewardship (YES) Coalition

The Youth Exploring Stewardship (YES) Coalition is hosting its annual YES Conference on Saturday, October 11 – Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Cal-Wood Education Center near Jamestown, CO.

This FREE event brings together high school students from across the Colorado Front Range who are involved in stewardship organizations for a one- or two-day leadership experience. It’s a chance for youth to:

  • Engage in hands-on stewardship and outdoor career activities in small groups

  • Explore academic and career opportunities in conservation and environmental leadership

  • Build leadership skills, make new friends, and just have fun outside!

The conference is youth-led and youth-centered—participants help shape the agenda, making it inclusive, authentic, and impactful.

The YES Conference is SO much fun—it honestly feels like summer camp! You’ll spend time playing games, roasting marshmallows, enjoying delicious food, playing gaga, going for a hike, and more.

Why this matters:

  • It’s a hands-on, energizing event that helps youth explore real-world stewardship paths

  • It’s completely free, including overnight lodging—making it easy to say yes

  • Your participation supports your own growth while uplifting others in our community

Next Steps:

Just email allison@teensinc.org and let her know:

  • Are you interested in joining?

  • Do you need help with transportation to Cal-Wood?

  • Will you be staying overnight, or just attending for the day?

Thanks for considering this opportunity to make a tangible impact. Allison would love to have you join them in shaping the next generation of environmental stewards! If you’re curious but unsure, feel free to reach out—Allison is happy to answer any questions or talk it through.
