No School Tomorrow!
Dear BES Families,
Thank you for coming to our Parent Teacher Conferences. It was great seeing everyone! A huge thank you our PTO for our Wednesday night dinner. See below for information regarding our PTO Night at the Stadium this Friday night!
Tuesday is our annual Ag Day at LHS! Our students will be walking over to LHS to learn all about various topics of agriculture education. The FFA students put on the displays and it is a fun day of learning. We are also going to be learning about the Moon Tree as we plant our very own Moon Tree at BES! What is a Moon Tree? It's a great story! Astronaut Stuart Roosa, who was a Forest Service Smokejumper, took seeds on the Apollo 14 mission in 1971. He brought the seeds back and one of the seedlings that grew was planted in Atchison, KS at the International Forest of Friendship, a growing memorial to the history of aviation and aerospace. My family was one of the founders and I continue to help with the Forest. This past year, we have worked with the Kansas Forestry Service to take seeds from the Moon Tree and other trees to produce seedlings. It was successful and we now have Half-Moon Trees to plant around the country. In alignment with our theme of Blast Off Into Learning, we have our own sycamore to plant! I'm excited to share the story of the Moon Tree with our students this week!
Don't forget to keep your child's report card when it comes home this week, then sign and return the envelope to our office!
Have a great week,
Cindy Apple, Principal

The USD 416 social worker/counselor team wanted to share with you some free resources for winter coats, Thanksgiving meal baskets and Christmas gifts (Christmas gift program is for Louisburg children birth to 18). Please be mindful of each deadline for requesting assistance. As far away as they seem, the deadlines will be here before you know it.
If your family could benefit from a little extra support to ease the seasonal burden, then please see our newsletter to learn about some wonderful resources!

On November 4, 2025, Patrons of the Louisburg School District will have the opportunity to vote on a new baseball and softball complex. This new complex will be a ZERO mill increase project. If the vote passes, construction will begin right away and the goal will be to play baseball and softball games on the fields late April/May 2026. Besides baseball and softball, other sports teams will be able to play on the fields, as well as band, dance and physical education classes. As with all of our fields, The LRC and community will have access to them throughout the year. We appreciate your support of this zero mill increase capital improvement for our school district and community. For more information about the ball fields, please visit our school district's website at: https://www.usd416.org/article/2361293

Attendance and School Calendar
Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.
Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!
If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.
GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
